    Re: Opera 9.50 out (Kestrel)

I usually run Opera and FF simultaneously and depending what I'm doing I'll run IE7 alongside. I'll have all my ebay stuff in IE, most of my leisure stuff in Opera and FF with all my regular sites. Just depends what I'm doing and which sites work best with which browser.

    Re: Opera 9.50 out (Kestrel)

Found aan oddity with teh tab buttons on the 64 bit Linux version.

I don't have close buttons on each tab, but I find when I start Opera the close tab controls at the top RH side of teh window don't work. If I 'close all' then a second set appears alongside the first set - these work as expected - the original set still don't. (Just checked the 32 bit version on FC6 - same problem)

I tried Opera for the first time in years yesterday, fantastically fast but no form history/autocomplete?!?!?!
What on earth is with that? I would switch but that makes it unusable.

each to their own, I hate autocomplete. I don't trust browsers to store that information

So you could turn it off as I presume you turn off history/cookies/wand/cache?
Every other browser does all of this + form history and lets you turn them all off.

Worth backing up Opera )I just copy the folder to E:\), as updating the version can overwrite some of your alterations. The 'open in new page' gets lost from keyboard.ini, as does 'open with IrfanView' from Menu.ini.

    Re: Opera 9.50 out (Kestrel)

Just (accidentally) found a way of preserving the Speed Dial mods when updating Opera. The standard_keyboard.ini files get overwritten, so it's necessary to paste in, from a backup, the following to get the new tab per page:

    1 ctrl=New page & Go to speed dial, 1
    2 ctrl=New page & Go to speed dial, 2
    3 ctrl=New page & Go to speed dial, 3
    4 ctrl=New page & Go to speed dial, 4
    5 ctrl=New page & Go to speed dial, 5
    6 ctrl=New page & Go to speed dial, 6
    7 ctrl=New page & Go to speed dial, 7
    8 ctrl=New page & Go to speed dial, 8
    9 ctrl=New page & Go to speed dial, 9
    1 alt=New page & Go to speed dial, 10
    2 alt=New page & Go to speed dial, 11
    3 alt=New page & Go to speed dial, 12
    4 alt=New page & Go to speed dial, 13
    5 alt=New page & Go to speed dial, 14
    6 alt=New page & Go to speed dial, 15
    7 alt=New page & Go to speed dial, 16
    8 alt=New page & Go to speed dial, 17
    9 alt=New page & Go to speed dial, 18

I tried to modify the standard_keyboard.ini so that Ctrl+F5 would work; this was a failure but did result in a new file being created: standard_keyboard(1).ini in Program Files\Opera9\profile\keyboard\ and this survives the upgrading process.

Opera 9.51 has just been released - seems to have fixed the problems with the window controls!
