    Suitable Antivirus For Vista

I need to know which is the most suitable antivirus for Vista as per my requirements:

    i)Should be very light
ii)Should be extremely minimal on system resources.
    iii)Can be turned off/disabled in an instant,via single-click.
iv)Can be updated without any hassles.

I use AVG Free, but it starts a LOT of threads.which is a pain to turn off one by one via Task Manager.

    Thanks to anybody replying.

Either Nod32 or the latest Norton.

Yes, I said Norton. The latest version has been getting brilliant reviews, and is no longer consider bloatware in my book.

I've been using Avira Personal for a while now.

It works pretty well and meets your requirements.

LOL, yes I'm talking about Norton 2009. It's actually quite good from what I've read, and several of my nerd friends have used it and they all like it. I've been a long time hater of Norton, but I have to admit. This time round it's actually...good!

Ditto, although I'm not a fan of its right-click menu integration (doesn't seem to appear on all files I right-click).

You should be able to disable context menu integration in the options. If not, use something like ShellMenuView & ShellExView to find and disable any unwanted context menu entries.

I've always made the sign of the crucifix and muttered various protective incantations over my PC whenever the name of Norton/Symantec was invoked, but I had a look at Norton 2009 on a friend's PC recently and, yes, it is, well... quite good...

Thanks, but my problem is that is doesn't appear on all files/folders, it seems to be limited to certain types, and I'd like to be able to individually scan any file/folder I want.

    +1 for ESET NOD32.

A company I worked for last year had around 30 windows machines running it, never had any problems, no noticable slowdown and minimal fuss for the less-tech savvy users.

    Re: Suitable Antivirus For Vista

It would be worth trying "resource heavy games" with NOD32 running, because it's quite well repsected for not slowing you up much at all.

Surely to scan an individual file, you just right click it and the antivirus will show as one of the options.. click it!
