WMA files to MP3 ??

Damn!!!!! so its said that if i write it to a 128k wma i dont lose some of the quality that i could potentially lose with an mp3. bit what i notice is the buffering on the files is reduced very significantly when i rewrite to 192k mp3. what effect does the buffering have on the wma's?

that's entirely down to the codec. most MP3 codecs are more mature than the equivalent WMA codecs (since people work on their own for MP3 decoders, whereas microsoft control the WMA standard with an iron fist, and they aren't very good at it).

& it's not so much that WMA is better than MP3 (it isn't), it's that the first format something is in is better quality than subsequent formats.

better then to keep to standard formats i get them in then. cheers for the advice directhex. ill uphold you to that. as for microsoft, i reckon its time they got their asses and shifted em into a higher gear. but cheers again for the advice
