Crazy CPU Usage on Winamp 5

I am been getting this problem on my Centrino laptop, where the CPU usage of Winamp will easily go to 70 or 80% when playing. I've tried the hardware acceleration options, and I don't get this problem in Windows Media Player.

    Any ideas?

DirectSound. Hardware acceleration disabled (makes no difference).

Have you tried the wave out plugin? Is that even in winamp 5? I can't remember.

options --> preferences --> classic skins --> visualization refresh rate?

options --> preferences --> modern skins --> Timers resolution?

Personally, i think it may be the timers resolution.
