    headphone volume

I'm having a slight problem with my headphones. I have the volume all the way up for everything and they're loud, but not as loud as I'd like them. Is there an application out there that I can boost the volume even more? I remember in linux there being a PCM setting in some volume controls and that really made it loud. Is there something like that in windows?

If the headphones are plugged directly into the soundcard, they won't be that loud... The output strength of soundcards is only really designed to get the signal to an amplifier or some powered speakers, not to power loud speakers (or headphones) on their own.

Even my laptop powers headphones louder than most people would want it. With winamp you can set the EQ to boost all frequencies.

The 'WAVE' volume bar in sound settings usually gets me as stupid apps like Real Player like to use it as their volume control. Stupid stupid real player

Well, I just tried plugging my headphones directly into the soundcard and it is actually quite loud... makes me wonder why I've been using an amp all these years

So I guess it's not that... Have a poke around in Windows and see what you can find... something might be set low somewhere...
