    Question Bit Torrent

    Anyone here use bit torrent? I have not used it yet, but might give it a try (for legal purposes of course). What the deal with resuming downloads? With other P2P programs (Kazaa, eMule etc), if you lose your net connection they start downloading again automatically from where they left off. Does Bit torrent do this and will you have to restart the download once the internet connection is re-established?

    stuck on 56k here

    A client like Azeurus will allow you too resume downloads and uploads whenever you want as long as you've kept the torrent file on your computer and the tracker is still online.

    when you reopen the torrent file it should carry on the download.

    I hear Azeurus is a hog for RAM, so a good alternative would be ABC or G3torrent. I wouldnt have thought bit torrent would be much use on 56k since you'll likely be throttling the connection both ways most of the time

    Broadband is very cheap now, are you in an unsupported area?

    I use Azureus for downloading a lot of files, but I usually use Shad0w's client for single file downloads.

    bit torrent is great for game demos and really popular files. Brahm Cohen is a genious for inventing it. Yes you can resume, as people have said.

    I use G3Torrent, although I think development on it has ceased.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Well, the fact that he states that he's "stuck" with 56k would indicate he can't get it for whatever reason.

    only american torrent sites are being targetted by those groups.
    they have no authority outside usa , as at least one scandinavian torrent site has proved.

    many uk and some european sites are not being targetted , also depends upon what they are allowing by way of torrents.

    specialist torrent sites have invited members/controls that stop too high a profile and only allow non-commercially available things to be torrented.

    my ratio on all sites is 5:1 or better , one site is sitting at 50:1

    both of the above ratios are from tv torrents ..... not one available on vhs/dvd/or any other format.
