    WinAmp Tango Foxtrot?

Basically, i run winamp, start playing a song and all is well.
I open a program all is well. I open IE all is well. I click a link in IE and winamp goes mental. It starts stuttering, almost like it was playing the song twice, 1 being a second or so after the other. If you stop/play or pause/unpause its fine again, until you click the next link.
It also sometimes happens when i open a folder in Windows Explorer (which thanks to MicroSoft's Brilliance TM shares components with IE)
Has anyone had this before? know any fixes, cos its really getting on my tits.

BTW the machine is an XP2500 @ 3200, NF7S, 256Mb (i know thats low, but it still should work!) and Winamp 5.04.

    TIA!

    *edit*
Oh Yeah, XP Pro, DX9.0c and an SB Live too.

WMP works fine, but I'm not using that toss as its the spawn of satan.

Internet Explorer (and Firefox for that matter ) are renowned to put CPU usage to 100% every time a link is clicked. Dunno why tbh, just does. I'd suggest reinstalling WinAmp, and leaving the encoding/decoding etc settings untouched.

Try changing the sound output provider.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

thanks for the replies guys. I've changed the output to the onboard and still the same problem

I'll see if it happens on a slightly older or newer (if there is one) version of winamp.

Tbh I recommend that you add another 256mb of ram anyway. You'll find everything will run smoother.
