Another Nord user here. Found a few "dead" servers that let you connect but don't pass any traffic. Speeds also aren't exactly amazing and they removed the Russian servers so if you wanted to try something like Lost Ark you're out of luck
Basically it's alright if you catch it with one of the cashback things they do, I basically paid around £10 for 3 years after topcashback paid out
I've used Windscribe for the past two years after buying a cheap 3 year deal. They have a good selection of locations/servers and I've never had any issue with speed. Connecting to the nearest server gives almost full speed with low latency.
NordVPN seems to be the best option if you're regularly using it. ExpressVPN is also good.
I don't see the need for a VPN, but do need one occasionally and just use Tunnelbear which gives you 500MB free per month, enough for my very occasional use.

I have been using Mullvad. Absolutely no problems, good speeds and the way it is set up is super easy. I recall reading one highly renowned hacker who did an AMA said he also uses it - so one of the biggest endorsements you can get!
I use PIA but thinking of switching to be honest, speeds are too slow.
Looking at moving from Nord, what options have people found?
I've been using Digitbit for over a year but will look into a new provider once new PC is built.
Been happy with Express VPN. Have a gigabit connection and they're about the fastest I've seen at consistent 250-350mbps over wifi.
I use CyberGhost due to the nice UI and of course, 0 logs.
ExpressVPN are very good if you are happy with the price, or get a good deal.
I switched to Nord yesterday as they had a decent 2 year offer on for less than a year of Express, and 58% cashback through Quidco as well. So far so good, no issues with speed although I could game at very low latency on Express, seems about 6-8ms higher on Nord, but that could have been the game server I was on.
Nord only have discount for new customers, if you try to grab a deal on renewal it doesn't work, just an FYI for those that are looking for cost based on factoring in a cashback on Nord..

Always be prepared to move, that's why I left Express - I reached out to their support and asked if they had any loyalty scheme for existing customers, they said no. Soon as I said, well in that case I'm leaving, their tune changed and they would "see what they could do". They'll probably bend a little to rescue a customer, but it was too much of a hoop to jump through so I didn't give them the opportunity.
Update on Nord, gaming is great, getting sub 20ms quite often. They do get snagged in cloudflare anti-bot mechanisms a bit more often, but it's bearable. Their software isn't quite as slick as Express, and they probably don't innovate quite so much, but what they have is fine and you can get inbuilt adblocking and support for multi-hop vpn connections.
