Post NTFS problem, reinstall windows cant access to backuped data!

    Help! Help! Help!
I reinstalled my OS yesterday. Now Im transfering my backuped data back to my PC. Everything was fine. The problem is c:\documents n setting\my user name\ . I CAN NOT transfer/access to this backuped folder. I know its coz I dont have the permission to access to 'other user's personal documents. but is there a way of getting into this folder???

This is urgent, I saved all my work on my 'desktop' now Im so screwed up...

Turn off simply file sharing, go in and replace ownership on the directory, then replace the file rights.

From what I remember 'Make private' even removes admin accounts - these can be forcibly added back without too much difficulty though.

IT's down to the ntfs file permissions

Say you saved to a different hd it would have the sid of the account that made the files in the security section of ntfs partion, thus when you tried to access it from a new formated ntfs partion the sid has changed and so it will denie you access. taking ownership replaces the sid with the new one and off you go.
