    windows media player weirdness (again!)

ok, I minimise MP and it drops into the little bar at the bottom, carrys on playing but none of the buttons respond. hit ctrl+alt+del and in task manager its not there!?!
check processes and its there, so I end it and it stops. try again and same thing happens. think something odd going on when it gets minimized.. . . any clues? or how to fix it?
how do you uninstall media player to re-install it?

p.s. don't suggest win amp - hated it!

Winamp is a grower mate. Once you have tried it for a month or two you will never look back. Sooooo much more to it and brilliant plugins and customisations. You really can't compare the two IMO. Winamps like the Firefox of media players to me. Thats not to say it does not have its own faults too and previous versions were arguably better.

dom i've use winamp since the dawn of my abailty to download at 56k speeds.

which just so happened to co-inside with my discovery of storing my legally bought CDs in mpeg-3 (well flac now).

Winamp 3 was a joke, Winamp 5, pisses me off, its too slow with network stuff, and on a bloody 15k rpm hdd stripped RAID with just ram no pagefile, 4 virutal CPUs, still takes **** to load. Winamp has kick-arse visualisations thou.

Foobar is basic, but so slick as a result. really good, codecs well defined.

Saying winamp is like the firefox of browsers is quite true, pisses me of with how damn slow it is

Ive got Winamp and WMP.. Still alwase use WMP, i find winamp iritaing, ugly hard to navigate and genreally not as nice to use. I looked through all there plugins and couldnt find a single one that i wanted. Most of then only exist to bring them to the level WMP is already at.

((But Just for music, Power DVD if ftw where video is consered))

Winamp is the Netscape of browsers, everyone thought it was good,, but it turned out to suck.

winamp in the 2.x days was the undisputed king, and its visualistations are still eons ahead of WMP.

Check foobar its great. It has a much better database system and the get missing track info is very well implemented (uses freedb)
