NOD32 for its low demands on system resources but still being able to detect viruses.

Kaspersky is the best for virus detection I feel as its extremely thorough, but with this comes increased system resources.

I really, really don't like NOD32. I tried it last year sometime and had some real issues with it, especially false detections. I *use* AVG Free for my PCs at home merely because its light and does the job.

I do also own a license for Kaspersky Personal Pro which I use for cleaning PCs, its really thorough, eats system resources like nothing else and takes forever - but it does the job.

Check the reports out on www.virus.gr - says it all

I used to use that, but got false detections with it - well one, a really annoying one. I ran everything else I could get my hands on to check and everything else said it was fine.. but my PC works fine with it on here so I'm not worrying

You can give the 'trial' version a go at the Sophos website
. Works quite well and it doesn't suffer the performance issues such as the like of Norton is well known for.

If you're still interested you can go ahead and purchase. The online virus pattern update system works very well too...notice though, ondemand scanning of massive archives can be a pain in the arse, it scans the archive when you open it, and the archiver apears to be blocked from starting as sophos scans the archive.. I'm not sure how this works with other AVs, but you have the option to disable it and just worry about virus scanning as you execute any binaries within.

AVG has buggered me and several people I know up - particularly on the latest version. I have since used Avast and had absolutely no problems, it's been great - with a good support forum to.

I had problems with AVG pro either quarantining or deleting suspicious files. Good at detection, rubbish at healing/deleting etc (in a comercial environ).

FSecure all the way - been using it in it's various forms for about 5 years now and it's not failed me yet. Also nice and light on the ole' system, which is always a plus point.

Another vote for NOD32 here too, very light on system resources, no funny glitches over RDP and in my experience picks up more than any other AV (especially Norton - which seems oblivious to certain viruses)

I have NAV 2004 on my main machine. I really don't like Mcafee any more esp the full Internet Security suite. I love AVG and recommend it to many. It works well and does the job just fine and more importantly doesn't hog system resources like many of the others.

Used to use NAV with the whole internet security. Like many have found, it was very resource hungry and a pain to uninstall.

    AVG did the job fine.

Now use Sophos and fine the active on access scanner re assuring. Plus it updates more often than Norton !
