Hi,
I need to make about 50 CDs for a friend's band, is there any free software that I can use that will allow me to copy-protect them?
Thanks,
Chris

no. you're looking at enormous licensing fees for something like CDS
and more importantly, don't - "copy-protected" discs generally either screw up a PC if you put them in a PC, or don't play on things like discmen or car stereos. they don't stop piracy in ANY way shape or form - all they do is cause trouble for legit buyers
yeah, what he ^^ said
also, i think a lot of copy protection relies on pressed disks, don't know if anything exists that would allow you to use a burner.
what i would say is make a hybrid audio + data CD.
Put on a little video or something, people tend not to want to steal when they SEE its a really really small unsigned band.
Also i really doubt they're going to be good enough for anyone to care to steal their music, even if they've hired a studio, its going to be a rough cut at best compared to if they go "major".
Or better yet mabye just put the tracks for free on the website and deside that until you've actually got a record contract, or some form of distrabution (ie 5 shops + selling ur cds) then just go watch the episode of south park called "Christian Rock Hard"
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
why? whay the fark would you want to put copy protection on a disk.. if its a friends band the VERY BEST thing you can do is hope someone posts them on boing boing and suddenly they have 10,00 fans instaead of 50.. thats not going to happen if you try copy protection.. copy protection is imoral and if you live in the US unconsistutional
AMD3000+ ATIX800XL + GBNF44x mobo.. all at stock because they're good enough atm + CA A1 amp-->Mission 73S Loigtech MX1000 + 1GB ram + 1/3 TB HD array
Wintendo XP + Linux (when it works) .. just incase you were wondering
