sounds like he face-planted trying to land a jump, and slid along the floor into his bars... however it hapened, tis about the grimmest thing I've seen in a while...

I saw that and imediately thought how handy it was that they where split clamp design.... It's such a pain getting grips off handlebars in a hurry (maybe I'll add a can of hair spray to my kit list)

When I used to work in a bike shop many moons ago, a chap came in and said he had the injury of the century. Now an injury to me is like a sliced finger or graze or such... But no, this guy must have thought a broken arm was an inconvenience!
He casually explained how he was riding along and fell over onto the bike and as he said that he lifted his shorts [steady!] and OMG, the 'injury' was that his handlebar had gone into his leg!?
He'd been off the bike for a year and the leg was all healed ... but there was still a hole. A fethin' great big hole. Into his leg. With muscle showing. Dried muscle.
