    Re: 2011/2012 season

poor arsenal that was humbling for them. Not sure the wheels have fallen off the train yet though.

Look it's 3 games in and while it gave me a mild amount of pleasure to watch them get spanked there are 35 more games left and i think that arsenal will sign a player or two before the window shuts and bounce back from this they have too many solid players.

However sadly we will steal there champions league place this year hopefully

Is this the worst picture ever used by the BBC?

    Lol

Arteta and Benayoun are good signings for Arsenal. If they can get back to their best that is. I'm still disappointed Samba or Cahill wasn't signed but what we have should be sufficient to give Liverpool a decent race for 4th. Injuries permitting of course... hmm, oh dear...

    Re: 2011/2012 season

Any thoughts on Liverpool's transfer window?

A lot of people I'm speaking to think it has more or less been a dream window for them, and admittedly they've got rid of some real dross, but I'm not so convinced myself...

No proper strikers outside of Andy Carroll, who is himself yet to prove himself as a top Premiership player. Then in midfield with Meireles gone and Gerrard perennially injured, can Adam and Henderson make the step up?

I am really happy with all the business done

Strikers we have suarez as well as carrol, Kuyt has done a job there (it was his original position after all) And we also have Bellamy back as well who if he can stay fit will be great back up. Then there are some hot prospects in the reserves who can come in.

Midfield is deffo not a problem. Where did you get gerrard perennially injured from? Last season he had a bad season only playing 21 games but every previous season he`s played over 30 games. We have gerrard, Maxi, Henderson, Kuyt, Downing, Spearing, Lucas, Adam, Shelvy.

IMO we have a much stronger squad now than we have had for a few years.

    Re: 2011/2012 season

Forgot Suarez, I'll give you that. Kuyt isn't really a striker anymore though, no more than Alan Smith over the last few years at least.

Kuyt can still score a lot of goals when played as a striker. Hs a lot for holland. He never plays as a striker for us.
Suarez carroll and bellamy is not a bad group of strikers.

On the Gerrard subject. He does seem to be more prone to injusy of late. I can't see why henno and Adam cant step up at liverpool wilshere did at arsenal.

I think the real question with gerrard is does he have it anymore, When did we last see him do that grab the team by there necks and draggin to wins not for a while.

I think if we get 30 games out of him this year it will be good i also think it would be very harsh to kick henderson adam or lucas out of the squad to put him in at the minute.

Lucas has really stepped up the last 18 months he was a laughing stock outside liverpool but now he does his job brilliantly and showing why he deserves his place in the brazil squad.

Adam seems to have stepped into a liverpool kit and carried on his brilliant passing ability as he had at blackpool ( i was a huge sceptic if he keeps it up will prove me wrong)

Henderson is young but menacing he is already working well with suarez downing and the now departed Raul meireles.

P.s overall i am very happy with our summer signings we have got some midfielders and defenders which we needed, creativity wise we look good and hopefully soon some of the young guns like Suso will step up to the main team, That kid is a sensational footballer

Good post, agree with most of it. But as for Stevie.. He will always have it. Refresh your memory by watching a youtube compilation! Last time was Napoli I think in November.. Off the bench to score 3.

Liverpool dont need Gerrard anymore, they're much better without him.

    Re: 2011/2012 season

Speaking of in-demand midfielders, Wilshere will be out for '2 - 3 months' apparently and there is no doubt Arsenal absolutely need him. My hopes have gone from quietly optimistic about getting 4th place to let's just hope we can keep a respectable league position come Christmas...

And how many times have we heard "it's a minor injury, he'll be fine in a few days..." to "he's had a set back and it will be 2 months..." to "he will not play again this season..."? Surely something must be going horribly wrong with Arsenal's medical staff?

Arteta was all ready injury prone at Everton, he is going to be dead by Christmas with the Arsenal medical staff looking after him.

November thats along time ago and napoli were a sub par team. Those moments are becoming less frequent although you could argue that the team around him has improved so those moments should be needed less

I disagree with you he is heading into his twilight now like jamie carragher but what he may now lack in pace and fitness he will always make up for it with passion. Even when he retires he will always be of use at liverpool he will be an ambassador for the club no doubt and has a lot to teach the young kids before he gets sent to the glue factory.

Back in November, as he's had his groin injury playing up. Hopefully the 6 months out has cured it properly.

I still think Gerrard has a good few years left. He even said himself he will play top flight footy for another 3 to 4 years. Look at Ryan Giggs for one example. Still a damn good player (as much as it pains me to say)

I love Carra, but his lack of pace is starting to show. Amazing player who gives it 100% every game. I think next CB pair will be Coates and Agger.
