    Refund

    Hi,
I bought a x1950 pro 512mb from yoyotech last Christmas and it crashes a lot while playing games like Crysis, Team fortress 2, call of duty 4 etc and the computer will just lock up and i will have to switch off at the plug and turn it on again. My computer is up to handling these games as my pc specs are:
    amd athlon X2 2.0ghz
    3gb ram
    700W power supply
From what i've read on other forums, everyone who has this card has these problems no matter where they bought them from and it's a problem to do with the VRM's which overheat. A way to fix it is to buy extra heatsinks or make them yourself which i have no experience with. So i was wondering is it possible to take it back, get my money back and buy another card? As i still have warranty on the card, but sending it back and you giving me a new one of the same model won't fix it.( preferably the BFG 8800GT OC 512MB)
    Thanks for the help

    Re: Refund

    Hi
We can only take it from you and send to supplier for replacement, unfortunatly we can not do a refund due to time the period it has been with you, this does not effect your warranty
    Regards

    Re: Refund

Just place a 12cm fan next to the graphics card, should eliminate any heat issue. If that still doesn't solve the problem may be your power supply is having trouble (700W what brand?)

This is definitely your card overheating. Its an inherent fault with those cards and they were never quite fit for purpose as they overheat very quickly.

BTW.....Help yourself and change that PSU out. Its one of the worst available in the UK at the moment.

Ezcools are known to go up in smoke, so I would change it. I recommend psu brands such as FSP, Enermax, Seasonic, and Corsair, you really cannot go wrong with them.

I would say that your gfx is overheating, send it back to the manufacuturer for a replacement.

    Re: Refund

Thanks for the reply's. What I have done is bought a gpu cooler and some ram heatsinks (£13!!!) and I'm going to try and stick them on when they arrive. It's kinda lame how ati are still selling the basic x1950 pro's if they're going to overheat as they put terrible cooling on it and they know they overheat because hundreds of people have complained about them. So if anyone is going to buy an x1950 pro, get the ultimate version! (or go to Nvidia) I will comment back once I have put the ram sinks and the cooler on and see if it makes a difference.
Oh yeah and about the psu, I havent had any problems yet with it so I will save some money for another psu just in case it does stop working.

    Re: Refund

It is the one made by Triplex parasouls. These crashes happen no matter what manufacturer, i've heard a lot about the saphire x1950's and they have a lot of angry customers.
