Re: IP35 Pro - Wolfdale bios?

I'm having the same issue with E8400 and BIOS V14. Temps read 127°C which is obviously wrong. Had to disable temp warning in uguru bios. Was going to flash the bios to V16 beta but unsure as to whether the M629B_16.B04 file is what to type into the awardflash box when it asks you for the file.

Abit's support and other forums are clear as mud when it comes to exact flash procedure and what to type at the promps.

Re: IP35 Pro - Wolfdale bios?

Yes I read that and alot more besides. The beta BIOS isn't a BIN file it has M629B_16.B04. I've no idea whether I need to change this from B04 to BIN. Also not using a floppy, flashing from usb stick which is fine. RUNME didn't work from the usb flash and that's why I suspect the file name needs to change.

Re: IP35 Pro - Wolfdale bios?

it does but did you also edit the name of the file that runme.bat was calling (presumably you just copied that from another BIOS download package)?

Re: IP35 Pro - Wolfdale bios?

.B04 just refers to which beta bios it is, in this case Beta 4. Rename it to .BIN and then as BUFF says you'll need to edit the RUNME bat file. Probably from the current filename likely to be M629B_14.BIN to M629B_16.BIN.

Well that's the process i went through to flash mine to the beta 9 bios.

EDIT: When under windows right click the file 'RUNME.BAT', click 'edit' and you should see something like this

@echo off
cls
ECHO !-------------------------------------------------!
ECHO ! !
ECHO !Please DO NOT run this batch file under Windows! !
ECHO ! !
ECHO !-------------------------------------------------!
pause
call abitfae.bat M629B_14.BIN <- This is the variable you need to change

Re: IP35 Pro - Wolfdale bios?

Yes, just flashed it successfully. In the end I changed the RUNME.BAT to look for M629B_16.B09, then changed the ABIT FAE line to AWDFLASH.EXE %1 /py /sn /cd /cp /cc /cks /R. Booted using the USB to win98 and just ran RUNME.BAT. Crossed the fingers and it worked.

Don't remember this rigmarole with my DFI, ASUS or MSI boards but then again that was 2 plus years ago. I'll see whether it has made a difference to the 127°C temp it was reading the E8400 to be in the bios.

Edit. Woohoo. Finally a sensible reading. Reads 25°C in uguru.

I have just purchased one of these boards and awaiting delivery just a quick question if the Bios needs flashing should I do this before installing anything i.e. 1st boot without an OS?

Thanks in advance

Well congrats to Sean on the baby, and kudos to him for helping here in his spare time (along with all the unaffiliated Abit experts). But shouldn't someone from Abit be answering queries here in a timely, official capacity, not in their spare time?

Thanks for the link and your help as always, but no, I don't believe I want to contact Abit Taiwan. It says right here at the top of every page:
abit.care@HEXUS is the official web-based support forum for abit Europe
I'm in Europe, I bought an Abit board to use features that it's not currently delivering, with precious little information available as to what is at fault, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect responses and resolutions from Abit Europe in their official support forum - and I don't mean solely through the goodwill and spare time of their staff.

Not meaning to sound arsey but it's frustrating not knowing what's wrong with the temperature reporting of my new build and when/how it can be put right.

support-uk@u-abit.eu

Mail em, they don't actively monitor forums - if you want support it's best to go direct. That's where I got the beta BIOS before it was posted up on the web, granted it didn't fix my e8400 problem and Abit still haven't sorted 45nm support officially but it's better than posting on the web and not getting any reply.

HTH.

pretty much all of this type of support forum tend to be covered by manufacturers as & when time allows.
Primary/support is usually by 'phone/email as it's more cost effective - there simply isn't enough traffic to pay for someone to solely monitor forums 100% of the time.

Re: IP35 Pro - Wolfdale bios?

I am still waiting for the weekly tech updates from head office. As soon as I have more information on this issue I will let you know.

At the moment all I have is the beta 16 bios.

Although I may not respond to all posts on the forum, I do read the new threads every day and were ever possible I do try and answer.

abit UK office is very small and my time here is stretch between various tasks. I will try to free up some time everyday to make sure that this forum is well supported.

What processor you sticking in? You won't need to flash the bios to install the os etc, most processors will work out the box.

I'm updating mine just now as my temps are totally screwed up with this new E8200 I've stuck in. Hopefully the beta16 will fix it because at the moment according to coretemp and everest and cpu is @ 50 degress idle and full load! It doesn't change!
