OK as everyone knows here, I have worked closely with abit for a few years now and have helped with some boards.

Lol dont lay the x38 quad gt on my doorstep:

Anyway I agree with warlock (grin) it looks like its BYE BYE motherboards for abit (at least so far as I have been kept informed)

Warlock I can see why people think abit is closing when the reverse is true, due to this fact.

ABIT started with motherboards and no matter what they do now, they will always be remembered FOR motherboards. If abit stop producing motherboards then to us overclockers, to all intents and purposes they HAVE closed!

It does look that way, with the X48 MAX being cancelled and NO sign of the ip45 pro, then obviously we have a problem.

OK folks if this happens then guard your IC7 MAX 3 boards ,as they will be worth a FORTUNE now!"

With or without abit I will still be designing boards and ocing them to the max; sadly as far as boards are concerned, we will sorely miss you abit, but shrugs.........

    Re: Abit closing?

Does everyone want to be the 1st to say they know something!!!!

I am sure we will all know more when and if Abit have something to announce officially.

The two websites mentioned are not provided.

The post on OCworkbench is from someone with 50,000 posts, is he/she official or just bound to his computer!!!

I am sure Abit would be interested to know.

    Peter, you should know better

By the way, IX48GT3 and IP43 will be with distributors next week, strange way of doing business when you are pulling out of the market!!

    Re: Abit closing?

If it's true that abit are stopping making motherboards I'll be really dissapointed

I've had Asus, Gigabyte and Abit mobos throughout my life of building PCs. Both the gigabyte and asus boards failed outside warranty, but all the abit boards I've bought are still working today... with my experience I only ever want to buy abit boards in the future, so I'll miss them if they stop

I also like the desing and durability of the Abit Board´s.... Unfortunatelly the BIOS development is a weak point in my opinion, since my board had and have some unbelievable BUG´s...

    Regard´s

    Re: Abit closing?

well lad lets hope we will get to test them! I hope abit still continue with boards as it will be a real shame to loose them, as I have said before!
Anyway i hope this quashes all the rumours, I had nearly three hundred, yes three hundred e-mails from people about this issue, BEFORE this thread started!

If I receive any more e-mails regarding this matter , please do not be offended if I do not reply

Oh come on guys!!! Don't close!

Got an IP35 Pro and it's the best board I've ever had. I was planning to upgrade to a new Abit board when Nehalem comes out

I'm glad you said that. I'm getting one of those next week to put an E8500 in. Really looking forward to it.

LOL... is that the best you can do? A flame at the owner of OCWB? While Bluetooth may not be official he runs a very tight ship, he's well connected, reputable, trustworthy, and has no vested interest in the situation. I wonder if the same can be said for you?

    Re: Abit closing?

Not exactly the same but I worked for a company that reduced the workforce as part of restructuring also selling a branch that wasnt doing much business.

When a company goes into administrative recievership even the directors will basically lie to your bare face, as they are told by administrators not to say anything till an announcement is actually made even on the actual day itself, they carry on as if everything is normal.

All I'm saying is with this speculation, it woudnt surprised if within a year or two time that Abit will be nothing more than what was in terms of being a motherboard manufacturer.

Look at Soyo moved into other areas & ceased motherboard manufacture, also Soltek just disapeared without trace & Epox ceased trading but formed a new company Supox.

I hope it doesnt happen, but I've had the experiance of this happening twice to me before as an employee for two companys.

Also in light of the lack of motherboards being released it does look like the workforce as been reduced, I don't really buy the reduction in bios engineers as the sole reason & plus all the Bull**** of motherboards being released on dates - yeah right!

Looking forward to the next few weeks, Intel price drops meaning I buy my new rig & P45 motherboard, too bad Abit have left it way too late even for me so I'll have to purchase from another manufacturer.

"a source close to Abit" claims Custom PC... I was hoping a P45 Abit board gets released soon too.
