About to join the Ipod bandwagon

For the simple reson as it seems to be the best around for me :/, still overpriced imo though.
Anyhow anyone here got one? opinions?, thig that im worried about is warrenty's, 90 days free support and 1 year limited warrenty, and when it breaks Aplle will bring in for eval not a straight swap out :/

The 6gb minis are quite nice and very portable. Mine replace my 40gb 3rd gen when it was stolen. I wouldn't go back to afull size at the moment. I am not sure anyone has 40 gb of music that they listen to all of the time!

I thought the 20GB one came with a dock, my 3rd gen 20Gb came with a dock. Maybe they changed this on 4th gen.

TBH Ipod is okay but its by no means great. I wouldn't be in a rush to replace mine if it went somehow.

    158 grams
    103.5 x 61.8 x 14.6 mm
    Apple Earphones
    AC Adapter
    FireWire cable
    USB 2.0 cable

Doesn't appear to come with a dock. Do they only do one version of the 4g now?

I have the 20GB version, and wouldnt be without it, dont regret my purchase in the slightest (apart from not getting the 40gb version)

Ipod minis are nice but no where near enough capacity, i like the fact that i can fit 70% of my music collection in my pocket, rather than having to pick what i want before i go out like with the minis or *cough* shuffles.

Rio karmas, Zens etc are ok..but who needs wma support? its a horrible format full of drm and other rubbish, much prefer mp3 as a free format And the other players dont even come close to looking as good as the iPod - the karma in particular is UgLy

You made the right choice mate, excellent little mp3 player - but i would reccomend getting an iSkin for it - else it will be covered in scratches in seconds

edit: oh and theres no dock, dont really need it tho, simple enough to plug in the cable..

Oh, you might want to get a case. My mate got a 20gig 4th gen and the screen was minced meat in 2 months. Never cary it in a pocket with change/keys in.

odd that you're against players that can play free formats such as flac or vorbis, but are pro-drm-encrusted-aac playing

Last time I checked mp3 can be drm free too.... Which funnily enough, is what my iPod is playing most of the time. In fact, the only drm stuff on my 'Pod is stuff from the iTunes store, and I can understand it being protected.

Also if you note, he doesn't appear pro AAC at all. If I can read correctly, he doesn't seem pro ACC at all. Merely pro-mp3, which is usually drm free. Oh, and he never mentioned flac or orbis, merely that he didn't need wma. Which is fair enough, I don't.

I have a 5gb original iPod, and also a 40gb Photo, and they both rock. Good choice.

Hexeh i'm not specifically against the other players, i just think they are fugly

Not against the other formats too, ogg etc are good formats, its just WMA i really dont like

And anyway if i wanted to its simple enough to stick linux on my iPod and then play any format i want
