My car doesn't tell me and i dont want to work it out! In the handbook it says about 45mpg combined but you have to thrash it to get it moving :s

Dads car, 2.5 V6 auto gets about 24 average or 30 cruising on the motorway

Yep that's how I check mine too, and I work it out /reset the trip counter every time I fill up ... Habit

I get just over 300 miles out of a 40 quid tank. Works out to about 32mpg.

1.6 fiesta... 26mpg... but it over fuels a lot when cold... most of my journeys are about 4-8 miles..


used to get 34 mpg when i drove slow long distances...oh and 1 liter of oil every tank

Yeah it's amazing what air resistance does for you - square of increase isn't it? Doesn't matter how slippy you are it's always less efficient the faster you go

Hence getting pegged to 50 or so in traffic actually does your economy a lot of good

It all depends on your gear ratios too. Some cars its more economical to do 50mph, and some cars its more economical to do 75mph.

It's better than mine... I'm lucky to get 300 miles out of 50 litres some weeks. I have to fill up about twice a week at the moment (I think the garage monkeys tweaked the fuel pump when it was in for it's service)
