    Re: Calibra Progress *!= 56k*

    right well a long day at it today so im now aching and ready to get back to work for a rest

    i started to remove the ecu cover to get the underlay out of the drivers side...

    i was then told that my mrs had picked up a delivery for me, but whilst she was at the stables and i didn't have the key to her car where it was hidden! (brown envelope!)

    so back i get to the carpet, and after a bit of cutting with my new stanley knife...

    now it can properly dry, the underlay is in the house under the radiator

    seeing as the delivery was highly likely to be the new barrel i got the ignition switch back into place ready...

    and rewired the guages (no signal before)

    i also found my rear ashtray had snapped anybody with a spare one for a few reddies will be welcomed with open arms

    with little more to do inside of the car until the carpet is dry or the new cowling arrives, off i go to replace the bonnet with the new one (ready for the respray).

    I looked under the scuttle panel and there doesn't seem to be a pollen filter was it fitted to all calibras?

    Anyway! Out with the washer jets...

    out with the hinge bolts...

    bonnetless car

    I got the new bonnet on with the help of my neighbour and set about adjusting it. Unfortunately after closing the bonnet it wouldn't re-open! After about an hours worth of trying to get it open with screwdrivers etc I gave up until the mrs got home. When she finally got back I got my delivery...

    And got it installed in a few seconds...

    Anyway I finally got the bonnet open with much persuasion and adjusted the pin and now it opens fine

    after much more adjusting the best I could get the bonnet is like this...

    Still more to do before the kit goes on and the respray but the list has been drastically shortened now

    Should get it done in the next couple of weeks and then off it goes

    Bill

    4 litre v8 is tempting but without converting to rwd not really worth it

    Re: Calibra Progress *!= 56k*

    right more stuff done today to get it as road legal as possible ready for the kitting and painting!

    got a new cowling and rear ashtrays

    cowling was fitted...

    and so was the ashtray but i didn't realise there's a bit in the centre console which has snapped off too. I will be replacing this with a small bolt to hold it in properly soon

    my nice dry underlay was refitted...

    and my nice new carpet...

    followed by the drivers seat...

    and the passenger seat

    refitted the old headlights (will do the new ones when the cars back from kitting)

    fitted ze rear bumper...

    along with the cleaner numberplate light holders (might get some new ones soon)

    i then set about removing the bump strips from the front bumper so they can be sprayed separately. I hate doing this as the clips are all a pain to get off! finally got there though...

    and refitted the bumper...

    i then got the mirrors back on...

    i then ran the car for a while to get it warm. All the smoke disappeared nicely and it got up to temperature but still no heat from the matrix

    only then i found id mixed up the pipe from the lower resevoir and the upper matrix pipe

    Will sort that out sometime in the week.

    Almost ready for kitting now though so getting very close!

    Cheers

    Bill

    Re: Calibra Progress *!= 56k*

    aye tis unfortunate that. car wasn't fully warm and the 3 litre cams make it idle very rough. Plus the fact its not been started in a long time so the tappets will need to fill themselves up again. If not i might have to look at getting them done :/

    If its not been ran for a while take the king lead off, crank it over a few times to build up pressure before you actually fire it up..
