Hamilton's 3rd Place at Australia in Question

When Toyota dropped/couldn't appeal the decision, we thought that would be that.

And apparently it's not an April Fools, it's coming from a reputable source...

It's penalties and accusations galore this season already!

Re: Hamilton's 3rd Place at Australia in Question

Reputable source maybe, but hardly any ground to base it on. Hmm... it does sound like an April Fools to be honest - why would his dash have no display between turns 4 and 5 (which is a stupidly the short 'straight'). Why would it take 3 days for this info to come to light? Nah, I'm fairly sure this is just an extremely unfunny April Fools.

Re: Hamilton's 3rd Place at Australia in Question

would imagine that after Jarno Trulli went off the circuit and LH passed him (under yellows), the team instructed LH to hand back the position not realizing that if a car is cleanly of the circuit it’s technically temporarily out of the race. Then McLaren must have cottoned on to their mistake and came up with an excuse to try and regain 3rd place. Looks like the stewards have got some radio evidence to support this theory.

Think we might see Jarno get his position, points and shield/cup back

Hamilton's been disqualified from the Aus GP. Nice to know F1's back to it's usual ways

Weird - I did a search for "hamilton" before I posted in the Malaysian GP thread and this thread didn't show...

    Confirmation (of the disqualification) here:

He got what he deserved, lying and not being forthcoming with the actual facts is neither big or clever. What a muppet thinking he could get away with it. I imagine as well the line has also been taken to signal to other teams that similar messing about won't be tolerated.

While the flip flop decisions are irratating Hamilton was found to have flat out lied to the stewards - so what's wrong with that?

that doesnt make sence?? what mistake did they make to merit such a harsh pointless punishment? you mean to say that if you do overtake someone on a yellow flag and give the position back, your still a cheat and a scum?

It's in the stories - it doesn't state what he was lying about but the implications are pretty obvious no?

Presumably McLaren and Hamilton explained their actions at the time, but got the details wrong (eg said something like he slowed down to check information, when actually the team had ordered him to let Trulli past). Mistake or malicious is the question - nothing to gain from being malicious and it's not normally the McLaren way, but who knows? Stewards have deemed it malicious and punished them accordingly.

Re: Hamilton's 3rd Place at Australia in Question

I'm confused, two Topics with the same discussion....

Wouldn’t it be better to just have one F1 Topic for us all to use and discuss what’s happened, happening or about to happen etc etc etc

Tigs Edit: Please don't just spam the 2 threads with your disagreement, it won't get you anywhere, ESPECIALLY as you've copied and pasted the same content. The 2 threads have converged in subject, but they aren't the same... One is discussing the disqualification and one the general malaysian grands prix. i don't see the issue.
