What kind of driver do you hate most on the road?

I tend to give old people slack. They're old, and ever since Saving Private Ryan, I always say to myself "War Hero"... who knows what the old chap did 60 years ago

But in the real world, its the middle and fast lane hoggers. Recently went to the Lake District from Watford and some people are just sitting there in the fast lane at 70. And because of the rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish in the middle lane, we all get to move that slow...

Nobs on multi-lane roundabouts, when some people to the left of you dont realise that its not their divine right to be able to go through the roundabout straight, and almost always pull into your lane. If its empty, fine. If not, then stay in your lane... Its what they are for. If anyone knows the roundabout at london colney on the A414, then they know what I'm on about...

Well, I've got to admit that I'm one of those reluctant overtakers.

However, it is down the car I drive, it's a 1997 Peugeot 106 and it is very lacking in power, so it isn't actually safe for me to overtake unless the vehicle in front is doing sub-45mph, and even then - I'd prefer to do it down a hill! If i had any spare power, I'd have no issues at all overtaking.

Poor roundabout users annoy me, but I've only been driving one and a half years, so I'm probably guilty of this myself on one or two occasions.

People who can afford expensive cars but can't be arsed purchasing hands free kit!

Finally cyclist who feel the need to double up like "Ponch" & "Jon" from CHiPS in a single bike lane! And before i get pitch forked i respect cyclist your helping save our planet just do it in single file please...

Rude BMW drivers who think it's ok to tailgate you for half a mile and then flash you to move out of the way when your stuck behind an old person in a more powerful, newer car than me doing 40 in a 60.

To be honest I just don't like being tailgated full stop, I don't care what you drive, BMW, Audi, VW, White Van Man etc. I will not go any faster for you and break the speed limit because it's a case of mine is smaller than yours.

Anyone who not only tail gates me in a 30 zone, then overtakes on a blind, up hill bend and then proceeds to drive at 50 in said 30 zone (this has happened to me twice now, both women drivers, the first was a silly mare in a 607, the second a Corsa), plus there's some tit around the local area driving a Silver Civic (with carbon fibre bonnet ) that feels the need to do a 100+ where ever he goes (last time I saw him was when he was steaming up behind me at the end of the local bypass, passed a traffic island on the wrong side then slammed on his breaks as he closed in on me).

oh and those that feel the need to put on exhausts that make their cars sound as if they are roaring away at sixty when in fact they are toddling along at 25 (so far I've seen a mk 2 clio and a Cinquecento with these on, not to mention any number of Impreza's and an increasing number of Evo's plus the odd 3 series).

People who tail you no matter what the weather, how fast you are going and what lane you are in.

People who get annoyed when your not going fast enough for them even though I am doing 70MPH and there are 2 other lanes they could use if they wanted to

People who drive crappy cars that cover your view in black smoke and crap

People who pull over on the moterway onto the hard shoulder to pick up their mobile phone

Lorry drivers who overtake another lorry but are only going 0.0000000000001 MPH faster and so it takes about 30,000 miles for them to actually overtake and causing a huge tale back.

Old people doing 23MPH in the middle lane

Police who drive over 70MPH on the motorway for no reason (why is it ok for them?)

People who do 50MPH in the middle lane, I pull out into the 3rd lane to overtake and then suddenly they speed upto 70MPH, I pull back in behind them again and what do they do? Drop back to 50 again. GITS!

I was going to agree with you, but it could be he's talking about single lane roads.

People who ask why I overtake.
It's because of this thread. I overtake to remove decision-makers between me an my destination. A couple more cars in front and that's ten cars when they get to the next roundabout. GRR

People who half-heartedly overtake one car because you're catching them and then give up. I know because I've done it and kick myself for doing so.
If you're going to overtake get it done and keep doing it. There's no point in taking just one car. If there's a chance take it because otherwise it's pointless and you're likely in someone elses way.

If I catch a queue and plan to overtake everyone gets one chance. If you don't overtake when it's safe to then I'm coming through!

When i'm driving, i hate the cyclists who cycle half a mile away from the curb, or better yet a couple of cyclists side by side, with 3 miles worth of traffic queuing behind them, completely oblivious.

When i'm cycling, i hate the motorists that tootle right up behind you and then wait, until you a) stop or b) get so close to the verge a combine havester could get by. Just go past, what do you want a written invitation!
