Should we ? Yes.
Price tag would be in the billions, so we probably won't.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
If it was worth doing we'd have done it already. If it was easy for people to get used to, then it wouldn't matter that it's different somewhere else - because it's easy to get used to.
Nope we shouldn't.
The two greatest differentiators (arguably) between us, Europe and the US are our currency and the side of the road we drive.
Nationalistic tendancies to one side however - I'd rather see the cash it would require poured into a completely rebuilt national transportation/communication infrastruture.
I've long been of the opinion we risk becoming old-world rather than (supposed) 1st-world if we cannot rebuild our infrastructure to compete with countries that are starting theirs from scratch with modern technologies (India and China).
Milton Keynes is a prime example where it's futuristic cable network became to ancient to cope with modern services available on other parts of the cable network.
So no - changing from one side of the road to the other is pointless when there are other far more crucial country needs.

Can't see the point TBH
Pros:
Cheaper new cars
More natural driving abroad (most of the time at least)
Conformity with rest of Europe/World
Cons:
Second-hand car market will get worse then it already is..
Shifting with left means less time driving with only 1hand on the steering wheel
Cost to taxpayers would be obscene
"Incidents" after switch-over would sky-rocket
No more cheap jap imports

We drive on the right side anyway and it's down to the fact that when your on the left, you can attack people with your sword in your right hand in case someone is trying to jack your horse and carriage.
I say we let all the others change and follow the UK in driving on the right side
pollaxe (07-09-2009)
The cost-benefit of changing just doesn't stack up - so no, we should stick with what we have.
Until hovercars come along anyway.
We drive on the 'Right' side. It is the rest of the world that drive on the 'wrong' side!! lol
Global monetary crisis, let's change the side of the road on which we drive - genius!
Spend the theoretical money on fixing the roads we have
The cost simply doesn't provide value for money, only if they'd planned on ripping up every road in the UK to install some new technology (like say an eletrical road grid) would it even become remotely sensible to try it.

This is bunny and friends. He is fed up waiting for everyone to help him out, and decided to help himself instead!
Well, Sweden and Iceland managed it, but they are small countries population-wise, and the switch was done in the 60s. If we'd switched back then, I'd say yes, but now it'll just be an engineering PITA.
Example: Take the M6 Toll, and the junctions where it connects with the M6 and M42. Examine a satellite image of them, and think about how you'd go about switching sides. Tricky, no?
Ironically Samoa have done the opposite and join us on the "right" side of the road
