Right, work has caught up with me so Im barely able to keep my eyes open, so I'll do detailed searching/posting tomorrow.
But a parting thought, Volvo S60, highly speced, uber comfy, all the requirements, and well in budget
This ^^
D5 is 163/185bhp depending on model year, SE or SE Lux gets you a good range of kit. Oh, and Volvo have the best seats and best audio systems known to man (as long as you get their upgraded ones).
Geartronic is clunky but does the job - fine on motorways, just a little sluggish around town. Manual good, 6 speed for most of the life of the car I think.
Good shout Rasta (or did I mention these to you when you were car hunting? )
I may have finally started to come round, test drove the C5 and despite loving the look, interior & toys it only managed 37mpg over the last 6,000 miles (women driver living on motorways), the steering also felt utterly disconnected to anything & was as sluggish as anything. It also wouldn't fit in a garage, due to sheer width!
As a result I am looking at a BMW 3 series coupe like the one linked below. Slightly over budget, but hoping it would hold some value better then the C5? It is also far more economical & just down right cool. Iv given up on the sensible & mature policy, got me to where i am today so now i want to have some fun! . Insurance is only £200 more, but I don't know what servicing would be like?
Anyone have any comments or views?

(As for the change in heart, I figure i will only ever have Sophie with me every few weeks, so rear seat access isn't a massive priority, space wise again wont be lugging any large amount of luggage round minus 1-2 times a year and I think I can cope with a car that looks so damn good, is quick and economical!)
This opens things up massively
Also anything, even a cardboard cut out of any car but a Citroen will hold its value better, and be worth more than 50p in 5 years time.
I keep promising this, but at some point over the BH weekend, I'll do some digging and pick a few candidates out.
Im fairly impressed with this BMW tbh, it is a couple thousand more then i intended to spend (ie my original amount) but it ticks every box i have, including the interesting/character factor and coolness! .
Got a thread on pistonheads about owning & servicing etc so keeping a very close eye on that!
Why is the passenger door a different colour? Some questions need asking if you go to look at that.
Edit: A little bit of advice about BMWs - Be aware that you can turn off the irritating 3 flash indicators so that it only flashes as long as you're holding it on. I really can't understand why so many manufacturers are using the 3 flash system these days. It takes more than 3 flashes to change lanes on a motorway, and I'd say you actually need to wait 3 flashes before starting to move. I got annoyed when I sometimes tried to cancel the indicator and ended up pressing it the other way then had to wait for it to finish 3 flashes, instead of just cancelling.

KidChameleon, you and me both. When i drove the C5 it had that feature and i expressed my annoyance with it. Really not a fan of that feature!
As for the doors, i cant see it but yes, when it came to parting with money I will be thorough!
You do get used to the 'soft click' indicators, it doesnt bother me either way, the ST220 had them, and it took a week or so to get used to them, after that I used them, they never bothered me.
The 530 doesnt have them, and yeah ok after the first week of hitting them gently expecting a few flashes, and nothing I'm now used to them being on or off.
Personally I wouldnt make one of the deciding points on buying a car, whether one touch indicators are present. Also as I would imagine about 90% of new cars (the age your looking to buy) come with them, I would just get used to them.
I wasn't commenting on the soft touch, more the 3 flashes you get from soft touch. It took me a while to find out you can change the setting so that it only flashes once, or as long as you're holding it in the soft touch position. Of course, pressing it all the way will "lock" it on either way.
In the side-on shot the passenger door is a bit lighter than the rest of the car.
Andehh, it's great that you are getting off the C5. The BMW E90 coupe will hold up value very well compared to the C5 and their diesel engines have great mileage as you just discovered.
If you can live up 2 doors, there are lots of choices.
Might be able to get a E60 M-Sport (5 Series).
