At the rate I'm going about twenty thousand

Nah, I'm doing alright. My clutch control when moving off needs lots of improvement though

May I recommend that when you do get your car (Mini or whatever ) that you get your mum or dad to insure it and add you as a second driver, it's awfully cheap, compared to getting your own policy... Lol

You're showing your age here Emzay. I suggest you take heed of the advice here and stop being so damn patronising.

You were lucky this time - you might get lucky next time. The Police only have to be lucky once...

ach, leave her alone! She dint get caught, she dint kill anyone or smash anyones car up, so what's the point in whinging about it now that it's over? She's not likely to do it again in the near future (at least till she's had driving lessons). She was getting a feel for the driving and it wasnt busy, so give her a break ffs!

My friend got hit by someone in a Escort about 4 months back, totaly wrote off his car. The other guys car was not his own, nor was he insured on it. My mate did get money for his car, but on the brighter side the other lad got a 4 (yes, FOUR) year ban from even sitting in the drivers seat, and got given a £800 fine. Which imo still isnt enough for the damage he caused (ill try and dig out some photo's) Im not having a go at anyone here, just letting you know my experience of uninsured drivers! Just be safe

yeah I'm not doing it again mate, was spur of th emoment and the need to drive was just too tempting. No1 got hurt, tbh I was far too cautious as it was and I aint driving again till I'm sat in a car with a qualified instructor.

I just wanted to share my utter glee @ how cool driving is!

I could have foretold the reaction you would have got from this post Emzay me dearest, feelings run high when discussing illegal driving, insurance fraud etc. Fact is 99% of us lot in here have to pay through the nose every year to fund the habits of people who somehow think they are of a higher bloodline than the rest of us and thus dont bother with insurance (and ususally tax, and MOT, and driving licence).

Most people who *ahem ssshhh whisper whisper* decide to be taken out for a little go in the car before their driving lessons go somewhere very quiet and non dangerous such as a old unused industrial estate on a sunday night (possibly in my case tho you cant prove nothing). The fact that you went out on public roads with other cars crossing crossroads etc while not fully in control of the car higlights not your level of driving skill but the immiturity of whoever was supposedly mature enough to take you out in their car. Let me guess - boyfriend or the like? Most parents would think better of it anyhow.

You reap what you sew Emzay - you cant call a 7ft high boxer names and then whine and moan when he socks you one in the nose....

Tis true what Butuz says. But no use in everyone whining at poor Emz. It was a one-off aparently

Talking of which though, we found this lovely big and empty industrial estate today in our travels... Little roads and bits to park, reverse, etc, lovely place for practice!!

A one off it might be - fair enough. What narked me personally is the flippant attitude being taken towards those who rightly have given you a mouthful! "I'm very sorry daddy I'll not do it again etc etc etc." wound me up no end...

Driving is cool agreed. Acting like a brat when being rightly given a rollocking isn't.

why should she be given a rollocking when she admitted that she had done something wrong and pointed out, quite clearly that it wouldnt happen again. Am i the only one that got the point of this thread to be emz expressing her joy at driving for her first time, dispite the circumstances?

Are you the only one who can't see why a lot of people are getting annoyed by her flippant remarks?

TBH, I think all you've done is alienate yourself.

Driving without insurance and no license on a public road is ludicrus. You have soo much to loose.

Had it been a quick blast on a private road, then thats fair enough.

But if an uninsured driver hit my car, I'd go absolutely bat rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish.
