Not if you have a disability you don't.

Have just met someone who has 12 points...and is still allowed to drive.

Now how is THAT fair? nicked 4 times for speeding in less than 4 years. And still allowed to drive because its the only form of transport.

The reason maybe that the person in question may require their car/van/Robin Reliant to get to and from hospitals to treat their ailments and therefore they were not banned due to this.

I can see the point to a certain extent but there isnt much point in giving them penalty points if they cant get banned.

Maybe they should just raise the bar a bit so that youd have to be a seriously stupid disabled person to get banned. Saying that maybe a disabled person who absolutely has to have a car should get real and not themselves to get 12 points in the first place.

You can sometimes get away with not being banned if you can prove that you'll lose your job if you lose your licence. I think if they let you off the first time and you get caught again, the magistrate is really likely to lose their patience the second time.

The thing is, disabled people fight for the same rights as those considered not disabled, yet I bet the person Zak is mentioning isn't fighting for the same rights on this case.
