    Pray for dry weather please!

Got my first IAM lesson tomorrow evening and I will be MIGHTY dischuffed if it's raining and the car gets all messed up

Anyone else done the IAM course? Don't really know what to expect from the first lesson, just an assesment of my current abilities I guess.

Is your car made out of cardboard? Mine seems to work in the rain without disolving

Well it's so highly polished at the moment with any luck, the rain and dirt will just ricochet off

Tried a couple of IAM courses, but couldn't get on with the instructor.

Had a VERY elitest attitude which put a huge dampener on the whole thing.

Hope it all goes well for you.

Thanks Jiff. The guy sounded fairly level headed on the phone, so fingers crossed. I don't think my heal+toe habit will go down well

Butuz, there is an insurance benefit to doing the course. Also it proves that you are a highly competent driver (when you want to be) so you can wave that in the face of anyone who doubts your abilities

I'll certainly be interested to hear what its all about! tbh i'd be very suprised if it'll bring insurance down very much if at all, unless you're very young with no ncb i suppose?

it'll be an eye opener, thats for sure.

Whether I'd agree with all the stuff in it, is another issue, but a lot of it will be amazingly usefull.

Highly experienced drivers showing you that you are a rubbish driver. And teaching you how to be better. Can hep with your insurance. Maybe i should do it some day. Should be fun.

Well, my interpretation of it (influenced by friends comments, one of whom's dad is an instructor for the IAM) is that it's all very good and teaches planning ahead and the rest of it, but it is a bit 'dinner-plate-shuffle' in style. Although having said that, I do that most of the time when I'm driving hard anyway, nothing worse than having your hands in the wrong place on the wheel when you're attacking a corner

Anyway I'm not fussed what I have to go through because I've had insurance quotes that are a couple of hundred quid cheaper after passing the course.

Oh, and it was raining (just as the boss was at the driving range ) but stopped about half an hour ago, so hopefully will be dry by the time I finish work

    Nice One Shad...

I'm just in the middle of my 12 week training for the IAM on Bikes... its a real eye opener.. makes you think about whats actually happening on the road, rather than just driving on it...

I'm doing it mainly for the experience thing.. Insurance discounts dont really bother me (i'm to old for huge insurance premiums!) but the stuff they'll teach you can be applied to real world experiences...

Well Worth It... If only more drivers and riders would consider it, the roads could be a whole load safer!
