Mid-life crisis car required!

I would love a Ferrari. In fact, there's a Ferrari dealership just down the road from my office and I start drooling every time I drive past it. I could get a fairly old one in my price range but the fuel costs, servicing and lack of practicality would mean having to live on diet of Pot Noodles and water!

The Subaru Imprezas are fine drivers cars (as are the Evo IX's) but their image has been tarnished as others have pointed out. Old Scoobies are within reach of the baseball cap and hoodie brigade. I need to something with a bit of style to make me feel secure again whilst i'm in my mid-life crisis! I hate to say it but a Scoobie has no style.

The Porsche Cayman S is going to be hard to beat for desirability, performace and style. The new-shape Merc SLK350 is also high up on my list.

Nah- S65 (or CL65) TBH. In 15 months they'll be down close to that sort of price range.

SL55's are undeniably great cars but I've never seen one driven by someone who I didn't pity.

Infact i just looked on autotrader and you're not going to get an SL55 AMG for less than £50k so the newer ones must be out?

But you can get a loaded SL500 for about £45k

TVR all the way, if you get a griffith or something they have sensible sized boots and lots of poke, albeit somewhat unreliable, if you must have a porsche, do the entire world a favour and keep another boxster off the roads by buying a 928, one of the most beautiful cars ever.

Ultima GTR - 0-150 in 11.7 secs, 231mph top speed.

£15635 for the kit - add a few more thousand for them to build it....there's only a few hidden compartments that could be used as a "boot" though

Stay clear of TVR... Had a few m8s who went that route and regretted it (and had plenty of time to consider it whilst waiting for the AA!).
