I didn't know this thread existed. It's very nearly a year since we got the Golf now, just passed onto 23,000 miles since the 10th of December last year.
These pictures were taken minutes after it was delivered hence the snow on the roof.






Best car I've ever owned and possibly driven.

And the best part is, with 230PS (225bhp) and the best part of 500NM (365 lb ft), it still returns 70mpg if you're gentle, at 70mph.

You should really clear the snow off your roof too. If that comes off when you're driving along, you could have someone's eye out...

The car had just been unloaded off the back of a truck and parked up at that point. I wouldn't drive a car without fully clearing it of snow.

The GTD only has 380NM (280lb ft), not 500.

We've had it chipped, upping the BHP from 184 to 225 and the torque from 280lb ft to 365lb ft. I think that equated to 496NM, so I rounded up.
We went for the CRTD4 chip which is a simple plug and play affair. The difference was.. Drastic.

I suspect you unplug it when there are problems ;-) It's one of those "fake inputs to the ECU to increase power+torque" type things. i.e. undetectable by a dealership unless it's left plugged in when the car goes to the dealer.
