It took me 8 months- thats with 1 50min lesson a week. It didnt come naturally to me. Some guy from work passed after only a couple of months of lessons.

How often though? I passed in a few months, but had more than one per week.
Applied for provisional in October, sat theory in November, had full licence in January.
Had about 20 hours but it should have been less (I was slow booking my theory which dragged it out and i feel that maybe my instructor was a bit money hungry). Had a bit of practise with my dad aswell.
Passed first time with 1 minor which was looking in my mirrors too early
Oh and i started early april this year and passed early august
Ive had 30 hours in a year. Would be less, but I lost the paper part to my license in April, and was lazy and didnt re-apply until June, really regret that now as I know I could've passed by now. I failed my first test, because I rushed on a few roundabouts and made some lane mistakes. Got my second test booked for November 30th, really hope ive passed, my cars allready to drive, and ive got all my tax/insurance in a safe ready to be paid!
Ive had no other driving experience ever by the way, except racing sims
Passed in jan this year. Failed first time from having a very strict examiner, 3 minors + 1 major (overtaking a cyclist on a slight hill/bump in road - really I think it was becuase I heasitated first but thats the reson he gave. it seemed fine to me and I didnt realise untill I got back to test center.
2nd attempt was 10 minors which were all from being a bit nervous.
Many many hours of practice (mostly wasted on bay parking, and other irrelevent things that you master within a week of getting your car..), lost count of how many lessons but atleast 40 over 1 year. Atleast half of those lessons were a waste due to having no practice outside lessons, but I got better very quickly when I switched instructor.

i lost count how many lessons i had, i know i had 2 instcuctors though. Passed on my 7th test, previous 6 i failed mainly because i get very nervous under pressure :/ and i made stupid mistakes as a result, what gets me the most is the money i wasted tring to pass anyway i passed eventually and i'm now menacing the roads legally

I had a lesson the day before my test and i was totally rubbish, couldn't do anything right.
Lesson before my test was near perfect and luckily that carried on throughout my test
10 lessons, quite a bit of practice, plus i'd been roadriding on a bike for years (which teaches you alot more than you think - i'd probably covered 10-15,000 miles) so my eye for danger was very astute.
hughlunnon@yahoo.com | I have sigs turned off..
ive had about 25 or 30 lessons so far, i did my first test failed that due to mirrors nothing else, believe me you do know when you are ready, when that time comes youll pass. Hello everyone btw im new
Think I had nine, but I spent a lot of time in the car with my parents going around a small circuit in a local industrial estate. By the time I took my test I was very comfortable at wheel. The lesson's were still useful for learning 'test driving' (like looking at the mirrors every 2 seconds).
I had about 20-25 lessons over the course of a year. Had to wait nearly 2 months to do my theory test since it was fully booked and had to retake it but I passed the proper test first time with 2 minors in 2003 and then done pass plus. The real learning begins after you pass your test and have no instructor to baby sit you.
That statement earlier about drivers with less than 5 years experience being bad it totally unfounded and a ridiculous comment to make. There are far more people out there with atrocious driving skills who have been driving for years.
Many people should never have had a license and some should have their licenses take off them. I won't mention who these people are but anyone with a bit of level headedness on the road will know the types of people I'm on about.
