    How many lessons?

Just wondering how many hours / lessons you guys took till you passed your practical driving test?

I'm hoping to pass mine for Christmas.. I've only had 5 lessons (doing well) with an ADI but I've been driving on private land with my dad since I was 16.

So I'm just interested how many you guys took... list the year you passed too (obviously the test has got harder over the years..)

12 lessons, 1995, first time with 11 minors. But it's not the number (of lessons) that counts, it's the time you spend practising.

Sinfin test centre was subsequently closed down the following year for having the highest failure rate in the country.

If the test is harder, how come newer drivers have the most accidents?

    ?

It really was closed down, and it really was bottom of the country.

But no excuses - I deserved most of the 11 minors and was a crap driver. I would love to meet anyone who has been driving less than say 5 years who isn't.

i dont quite agree with that statement tbh, why does driving for under five years make you automatically bad, what defines being a bad driver?

and i was joking about the above lol

it depends on many factors - including how much practice you get outside lessons, and how naturally drivery you are (i'm not)

32 Hours of lessons to pass, that was with no outside driving but with a years experience riding a motorbike (and having passed that test).

Passed with 4 minors on my second attempt (first one failed for silly things - only 6 minors in that test)

Then did my Pass Plus which was 6 hours of slightly more fun driving

major thing to do is try not to make yourself pass for a time, do it when your ready, also imo, only opinion i dont think going out with your parent shelps (test) driving as they are not examiners, and you may get into the habbits of doing things that they wouldnt pick up on, but an examiner will and fail you for it.

but the test really is not just take your time and take it all in.

Twelve hours and counting with an instructor. I foresee many more hours due to my incompetence - driving does not come naturally to me!
