Theres a dead duck stuck in my car!

Or thats what my brother thinks

Been meaning to ask someone about this for a while. Problem is it can *only* be heard if I havent driven anywhere for several hours. The noise is gone after about 200 meters, so its very easy to forget about..

Sorry about the format and low quality, was taken with my phone. Ill get a better recording/video when I go out later today.

Not sure what it is (aux belt, pump, power steering, etc..) but Probably something I can change myself quite easly.

It does indeed sounds like a slipping belt.

If I manage to go out before it gets dark tomorrow (its already dark on the way to work when I start my 4 hours..) Ill attempt to guess the belts loseness and maybe even goto the ford parts shop to get prices..

you might just be able to adjust the tensioner/altinator to get more tension. a slipping belt doesn't necessarily mean a dead one

I do mine once a year. It's one of those belts that runs about 30 items and is so long, it does a complete loop once every 3 months use.

If it goes, so does the power steering and water pump.

you should get a decent car with paralell belts on it (gotta love volvos)..

tbh, in all my years of motoring i've never had a belt go. worst case, i'd pull the car over and call the aa..

Hmm I read my book wrong.... Every 10k miles/12 months, for check OR renewal. Illl probably do it anyway, since the history of mine is a bit dodgy.

Mines a single belt too... waterpump, powersteering and alternator.
If it went mid turn, or without me noticing, a sudden increase in steering weight could make quite a mess...

The V6 runs twin ones. That's mainly because they had to drive the horrid, wax coupled, yellow monstrosity that got removed with a junior hacksaw and a mallet some time last year.

And no, I don't have to love volvos. Any love I could have felt for them was knocked out of me as a child when trying to actually get the rear seatbelt to unwind would reduce me to tears of frustration.

I quickly examined the belt and it looks ok + doesnt seem lose. Weather was really cold so Im not going to bother doing it anytime soon.

Somone suggested spraying some WD40 on a cloth and wiping the belt with it. Suppost to remove the dirt so it doesnt slip.

i'm not going to say they're definately wrong, but adding lube to sometng that's not meant to slip isnt normally a brilliant idea..
