    Oil/coolant temperature range

Does anyone know what the temperature range for oil and coolant are for a car engine. Reason being i need to know whether it would be better to sense them with a thermistor or a thermocouple.

    Thanks

Coolant normally reaches about 88 to 90degrees before the thermostat opens,

I think oil is about 100 degrees, but dont hold me to that...

    Cheers

OK thanks for that, that range means they can be measured with a thermistor.

    Thanks

Coolant can reach about 100 or so, I think the overheat warning on most cars is somewhere over 100C (it's pressurised so won't boil at 100).

with plastic hoseclips and aged rubber hosing, dont think so :/

best mine will do is disintergreat at the first sign of steam, but I dont think any cars are designed to hold water in a sealed system at boiling, the pressure would be too high and it would leak.
