Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 2

I rarely build a completely new Pc when I upgrade, mainly due to lack of funds. But when I do upgrade it's generally a CPU or Graphics upgrade (along with any other required upgrades, motherboard, ram etc), so if I deem the current power supply not to be good enough I upgrade that as well. I've also upgraded power supplies when I've had minor problems, buzzing from the PSU fans or capacitors.

When I upgrade my PSU next it will be so I get a modular PSU.
    Cable management is all important.

Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 2

Mainly to do with the noise levels, connectors, size (If it doesn't fit in the case) and personal needs for the whole system. The price is also a factor in determining if I want a new PSU for better efficiency.

Yeah, I only upgrade the PSU when my it can't provide the power my new components need. I only ever do "big" upgrades anyway so each upgrade nearly always means a new PSU.

Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 2

I get a new PSU if I need more POWAH due to mobo/gfx or CPU upgrades. My last PSU upgrade was a Corsair HX520W to replace my Hiper 570W which went KABOOMY!

Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 2

I upgraded my PSU when i bought a new graphic card. The most advanced card consumes more power and my old PSU (only 350W) can't supply enough power to keep it stable.

Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 2

My next PSU is going to be a Corsair modular, they look great and have had nothing but good feedback as far as I have seen. I have a Hiper Type R 580W modular in one of my PC's just now but I would like more juice in either my next build or upgrade one of my current rigs.

Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 2

Main reason for me to upgrade PSU is for a quiter and efficient PSU, another reason is due to a upgrade in components that result in a increase of watt needed.
