    PSU Problem?

I own the Corsair 520 and recently I have had problems with my Computer not shutting down properly or going into sleep mode. The fans keep spinning and the case led seems to be still on, but the hard drive and display is off.

I've tried reformatting and clearing CMOS but no luck. The only way to switch it off is by holding the Power Button for a few seconds.

Another problem is that when this happens, and I tried to turn it on again, the PC wont POST or Beep at all sometimes. To fix this problem, I just constantly hold the power down to shut down and turn it on again until it works.

Everything else seems to be working. I can get into Windows fine, can play games perfectly, open applications, no errors at all.

    Thanks.

This sounds like an issue with the MOBO. Can you list your complete system specifications?

    Re: PSU Problem?

    Hi thanks for the reply.

    My specs are the following:
    GA-965P DS3
    Ati 4850
    E6300
    2 x 1GB Corsair 6400

I've also had my suspicion on it being my motherboard as well since it failed to update the bios into a newer version at one point. Even so, I've never had this problem until recently so I thought it might have been the PSU. Maybe due to overclocking perhaps?

    Re: PSU Problem?

sounds like a BIOS issue to me...

but double check that all the cables are seated correctly...
and if you have another PSU that you could try (or another computer to try the Corsair PSU in, they that would either rule it out, or prove the problem...)

    Re: PSU Problem?

Sorry for the rather late reply. I have been busy recently.

I have tested the PSU on my brothers computer and it seems to be working fine. I'm sure it's 100% mobo problem after I failed to update the BIOS, something to do with kernel memory failure I believe, but it worked fine after reboot so I didn't take much note of it and continued to update it which worked.

Not sure what else I can do now. I could buy a new mobo but everything is still working so I might just live with it.
