and i have been toying with the idea of a new 'lid' (i.e. get rid of ASUS and replace with TAKTAK ), i need to get my head around fiberglass and etchings though, or just make a name plate and mount it in a sunken part...

There's an app for the iphone which involves rubbing the screen - I don't have one myself so I don't know any more than that.

I'm going to have to see what other things you've done to your 701

I got a 901 in sept so far I've not done anything to it apart from last night, getting fed up with the shiney fingure print magent plastic I had a go at lapping it with 1200grit wet&dry to remove the shiney surface. (only a small area next to the touchpad)

They've come down a bit in price, but I'm not surprised as the 701 is now seen as a bit old and outdated . . . not that it is that old, hardware update seem to be coming at a hellishly fast rate now.

and not at all, if you get one of the better kits, they are better sized and fit easier, and even then all i have done in essence is taken the webcam out of action and replaced it with a touchscreen

with no soldering or anything required, the controller board has just been taped in

TBPH i was expecting it not to work, hence why i have put it off for so long (over 2 months of doing nothing...)...
mainly because of all of the negativity over anything that wasn't two certain kits
