    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

This is the PC shelf installed and ready to go. as you can see it comes out quite far giving enough room to work on it. It can all so detach and allow the pc to be moved else ware to be worked on. All so close up pics of some of the controls with in the cp. There is still the wiring to do yet but that will be done later on ....

That's all for today. I need to know work on the back box and its going to take some time.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

Learning the basics of etching and working on some plastic just to test out my bad skills. ive never done anything like this before so i just jumped in with both feet and made my own dremmel holder and spent 20min testing out my skills .. My god does your arm feel like it's just gone 10 round with some woman's (some men's in today's climate as well) favourite toy ......

p.s I feel my tennis elbow come back very soon !!!!!

Pics below of my rubbish attempts lol ....

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

a bit more test etching. I don't think the Bumps on the egg worked out very well but hay ho its all about learning. Im now going to attempt to do the aliens allot smaller now as the sizes i have done are quite large and my Cp doest require them to be that big. So ill now have a go at doing them 1/2 the size while seeing if i can still retain the detail. If that works we can see how things go from there.
Pics below of the face hugger coming out of a egg. This took about 25 min to make. Not to happy with it though. I think the best design so far is the second alien.

Can a mod move this over to the projects section thks

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

This is a very fast dirty test to check out lighting on the alien designs. Just to see what it would look like. I can see the 3mm led's really are not enough to light up a full panel so ill have to try out some 5mm led's next to see what effect they will have.

The 3mm btw have been drilled into the plastic but like all things that come from Hong Kong only 1/2 of them work lol ....

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

Must admit its not easy this time I'm trying to learn to feather touch and see how it comes out. When doing it lightly you hardly see the work your doing (or it could be because i have bad light) any way i tried doing this with the lowest dremmel points ...

After a second look i then re did the head with a larger point to make it stick out more. I think its a fine line between what looks good and what doesn't lol ...

    <img src="http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo244/mlwood2008/etching/010-1.jpg">

Then added a CCFL tube just to test it out for idea's ... Its so dammed hard taking good photos of this stuff lol ...

Working on cab etchings now as i type this (just having a rest)

These are quite close up so it looks a little wobbly but then again i haven't cleaned it up yet neither. ........

    15 min later lol -------

Oky first alien finished on the CP ...

Need to do more work but you'll get the jist of what im up to ... The alien is approx 2" in hight and 3.5" in length so as you can see its really quite small but i think there is a lot of detail in it for such a small picture. Took about 1/2 to create

My lighting is rubbish atm , but to give you a idea with some bad red cold cathode tubes here you. they don't relay give it enough effect and it took 50 pics before i got a few to look oky ...

Ill be getting some much strong Leds later on to test it out better.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    Small update's as such.

First off you can see the Cp is being tested and the best way to test give it to the family and let them lose .... lol. mrs pac man getting tested on the 4 way.

My lass's score has increased so it defiantly working with the dedicated 4 way joy stick she could never get onto more than level 6. she managed level 15 ... so she's happy (she wont be if she see's these pics though lol)

Some pics of the back box being worked on. Ive drilled 3 holes for the 120mm fans to cool the Consoles down there will be another 3 on the other side to. one thing i learnt with c-macc's 1 was that consoles just create if not more heat than a pc and enclosing them forces the temperature to abnormal levels if not ventilated correctly so we have sold that problem before it even arises.

The reason why the holes look more forward is there is a 1" false wall to hide the cabling to the system and i need the holes to give good air flow hence they are in the middle of the shelf now the back box.

This is called rushing to meet demands !!!!!!!

No back box fitted just yet nothing i can do to get that ready in time ...

32" Samsung TV fitted 1/2 complete assembly ...

Blew Up PC while rushing around and dropped screw driver on a live mother board haha. Not a problem though stolen one of the kids for the moment.

Cables from TV to System hidden for now with twist ties later on this will be done with plastic square tubing.

At least you get the idea were its heading ....

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

You can see the shelf will hold a full pc with out any problems. This is fully retractable so it has easy access to the pc no messing around ...

It will take a full size keybord and still enough room for the mouse as well.

has a 15 degrees tilt system so the TV can be tilted and can hold up to a 60" plasma screen
