for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
You tell me how attractive she was, and I'll decide whether she gets to be my wife or not
Actually (putting a serious face on for a minute), my wife wasn't in uni yesterday, so it can't have been her. At least, she wasn't meant to be in uni yesterday, so if she was I'll be having words

And have you noticed how no-ones ever seen us in the same room...
i cant answer what your max fan speed needs to be jim, BUT! my 140.3 rad that should handle 600w (both 480's) never breaks a sweat, pumps always below 50% and the fans never go above halfway (approx 1000rpm) so the chance in you hitting top marks all the time is slim to none unless benchmarking.

Cheers Gonz, that's useful information. I reckon I'll stick with the original fan plan - you're right, it's very unlikely that'll I'll ever be doing anything that would draw full whack from both GPUs and the CPU at the same time! I'm just a big old worry-wart...
OK, after my little teaser earlier, I can now reveal the contents of yesterday's parcel:
Yup, it's ACRYLIC
Props to Pob255 for offering me this via PM way back at the start of this log - I couldn't think of any use for it back then, but now I've settled on building a custom mini-res, 5mm acrylic should be perfect for the job. I reckon I''ll be looking at an internal volume of ~ 150ml if I make the rad about the same footprint as the pump: I'll have to measure up the case first though: maybe I'll go a little bigger than that
if its home made mount it outside b4 you trash the system

I'll be doing plenty of leak testing first (I've got enough spare tube that I can probably do a pump-rad-res test in isolation), and if it doesn't come up to muster I'll be doing something different. The acrylic wasn't so expensive that I can't afford to bin it if it doesn't work! Worst comes to worst I'll do a dry build in the modded case and work out somewhere different for the pump to sit - it wouldn't be the end of the world.
Honestly though, anyone would think you had no confidence in my abilities
actualy its all the reading about the ever popular xpsc res's splitting at the seams and pissing fluid everywhere, along with a lot of other good makes, i did my homework and opted for the ek res tops as they are 1 piece construction with o-ring top and bottom to allow for movement
i do have a bay res somewhere if you want me to dig it out ?

I appreciate the offer of the bay res. I think for now I'll continue pursuing the home-made custom res option, but I'll bear it in mind if things don't go according to plan! Quite apart from anything else with the rad and fans taking up two 5.25" drive bays, I've not got a lot of room for airflow once I fit the DVD drive as well.
I did seriously look at using a 3.5" drive bay res too, as it would be easier to re-home the hard drive and there's less congestion around the 3.5" bays - it's pretty pricey though, considering how cheap I've got the rest of the bits...
i wonder if solvent weld glue would work ?
