According to Peter Moore's recent statement:

"...To address this issue, and as part of our ongoing work, we have already made certain improvements to the console..."

So you would assume that the newest batches of consoles including the elite have had modification to prevent the hardware errors. Im sure I've read somewhere about microsoft including some additional heat piping to prevent the GPU from overheating.

Just a quick warning, the US hdd does not work (yet) with a UK xbox. The disc is region protected.
There is a work around using memory cards. As I am feeling cheeky, if anyone has a spare memory card, could I borrow it?

Yeah there is. It's called the "Halo special edition", it isn't anything worth getting exited about unless your a halo fan and want a console clad in a horrible green with orange trim.

Movie service is coming to UK by Xmas is it not? Bring on the 1080p movies!!!! We'll probably get the TV service by 2010 i guess SkyHD will have to do till then - yuk @ 1080i
