Anyone taking the plunge and getting an Elite this week ? With my launch console dead from a case of the three red ights and not back for another 4 weeks it looks mighty tempting @ only £299 to buy one and flog the refurb when it comes back.
if i had money to waste maybe i would but atm i rather game on a pc has all the up comming games that i want are all on the pc
If I didn't already have one I would buy the elite. I only wish they would build the wireless in, nintendo put it in the £170 wii and the browser is very good.
They could have done more with the Elite really. The 120gb drive cab be bought on Ebay for nearly the same price as the official 20gb out of the shops, or you can do it yourself with the right kind of WD hdd and some patience. HDMI is not really a must either. Having only just got my 360 (and spray painted the case black) I don't think I'll bother...
Is it any quieter than the hoover that is my 360 @ the moment? That's the only reason I'd buy one.
Taken quite a few pre orders for it at work, even had a few ps3's traded in to get one. With the imminent price drop and inclusion of HDMI in the premium, i maintain my opinion that the elite is an absolute waste of space.
NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, GBA, DS, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3 60gb, XBOX, XBOX 360, Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, PC Engine, Neo Geo CD
im not gunna get one, waste of money. I have a standard Xbox360 which will do me fine. Im saving for a PC to run crysis
If I could sell my Premium for a reasonable price yes....
with the DVD tray on mine playing up, I may upgrade (the larger HDD would be handy too, fed up of my kid brother deleting content I've downloaded so he can download demos I've no interest in playing)

I shall be picking one up this weekend
It is Inevitable.....
I'm quite tempted, my DVD laser is playing up a bit, and it's out of warranty, I wouldn't mind a 120Gb HDD either, and since they're £120, I might as well buy an elite and flog my premium. Only problem is getting my download content transferred.
Nope. The amp/receiver I am going to get will convert all signals to HDMI - so just connect my normal XBox 360 to it via component and I am sorted.

thinki I may pick up a second hand standard 360 after the price drop I am sure they will be going quite cheap.

I quite fancy one, but purely because the rest of the kit on my rack is black, and the 360 sticks out like a sore thumb
Doesn't seem like good value in any way though, I just can't justify it. Especially with the price cuts on the white ones, and the fact that HDMI is being phased into the premium version.
Microsoft have totally dropped a clanger on this one. All the Elite is a bigger hard drive (whoopie) and HDMI. They should of intergrated the HD-DVD and wireless into the Elite 360.
If they had kept the Elite "different" from the Premium then they wouldn't have any problems, but with the newer Premiums to come with HDMI they have really lost the plot. 3 models of the same console, how to confuse the market.
If they had intergrated the HD-DVD drive into the Elite it would have taken the price to almost £400 plus they wouldn't be able to ship games on the HD discs, so not worth the effort.
