    FIFA 08 - Any tips?

Just in the middle of writing the review for this, but have to say I'm quite confused.

The gameplay seems to have changed massively since the last one, which I enjoyed immensely. I like the addition of lower league teams, finally I can play as Walsall, but it just seems so awkward to pull tricks off, not very natural at all.

Also, anyone got any tips for scoring, I'm finding it very hard.

Anyone here got it and think that it's an improvement of FIFA 07? I suppose you can't complain about the features, and I absolutely love the Be A Pro mode, but there's something not quite right.

its not as good as 07, be a pro is pretty cool though, it just seems a lot less playable and very clumbsy.

also the computer plays a frustrating tactic of 'back to the wall' when you attack, im still struggling on the lowest difficulty which im surprised at as i been playing the fifas for quite a few years

i tried really hard to resist adding this but this is just a stand in til pro evo

Re: FIFA 08 - Any tips?

    Hi Steven,

Not sure if i am a bit late or not, but the best advice you can be given is to keep at it. In the week i have been playing i have gone from being really bad at it, to playing a fairly slick game. The best use of the trick stick i have found is using while you are on the run with the ball to knock it on into space, this allows you to sprint past the defender and regain the ball. The other tricks and shimmies are best reserved for a player that is blessed in the skills department or it ends up losing you the ball.

For me its the best fifa yet, offering a varied game without the usual scripted feeling of the other games in the series.

Re: FIFA 08 - Any tips?

    Steven,

    I would agree with SmileyUK.

The easiest way I have found to score is to play the ball wide to a winger and get them to run into the box, once you do this there "should" be a free forward in the middle of the box - just pass it to them and then they should shoot into a virtually empty net.

It is an improvement over FIFA 07 as most people complained that 07 was far to easy, although some of the challenges on 08 are really difficult.

    Regards,

Re: FIFA 08 - Any tips?

i got fifa and after playing it for a good couple of hours i only managed to win ONCE and that was on ameture level, anything higher and i simply struggle to even score a single goal. fifa is a good game but pro evo imo is better.

maybe its because the A.I in fifa is just too damm hard compared to PES but i did play one game online and it was ALOT better and a much open game instead of the A.I having all there players defending in the penalty area

Re: FIFA 08 - Any tips?

    I don't know I manage to score...

Okay I do - it's down to simple tactical play and nearly 90% of the goals I've scored in Fifa 08 ( Thats when I can prise the controller from my housemates hand - He's addicted to it and was playing it most of yesterday evening from about 6 till past 10 ) are from sliding the ball from the wing either to feet or in the air and then banging them in the back of the net from the edge of the box or 6 yard area.

    Headers...pfft I can't do these at all

i've scored from a header before but i find it more difficult to defend headers as 9/10 the cpu wins the headers

Re: FIFA 08 - Any tips?

Started to get the hang of this now, thanks for the tips. Still seem to always head the ball over from a corner though.

The best way I've found to score now is down the wings and then putting a ground cross in.

The defence hardly give you a second, the AI is definitely much tighter.

I've kind of got used to the trick stick, but more than often still fall flat on my arse.
