    Re: FPS frustration

I used to slate the console pads for FPS games and defend the KB+M combo to the hilt, but after having a 360 for a while now and a few FPS games it's not that bad at all really.

The first FPS I tried with a pad since Goldeneye on N64 was Rainbow Six Vegas, at first I was like "sod this" after shooting the floors and the walls more than anything else, but after a while I got used to it again and I'm now totally addicted to COD4. Stats for COD4 are roughly 15k kills for 5k deaths, so I must be doing something right

If only they would bring out a KB+M for the 360 mmmmmm

    Re: FPS frustration

hehe, you just need to practise Zak, my boy.

You are used to the utterly pointless keyboard and mouse aiming system, which consists of putting the target where you want it and clicking the button. What fun.

About as much point as playing darts by walking up to the board and putting the dart where you want it.

But on a console, there's a nack to it you have to learn. At first you will be as clumsy as a teenaged leper, trying to undo a girls bra on the waltzers. But give it time and you'll be shooting some heads before you can say 'Liverpool will never win the league again'.

And you might even argue throwing the dart is more fun than placing it in the board. There's an element of sport to it.

... kind of like learning how to move your thumbs to put the target where you want it and clicking the button... Oh how utterly pointless the acts we pursue...

I didn't like a pad for FPS's at first, but I also didn't like keyboard and mouse - I was so used to playing Doom with the cursors and Alt for strafing.

    Re: FPS frustration

i was a bit dubious (sp) about going back to console FPS (after Goldeneye ) but when i got my PS3 with COD4 i picked it up easily! obviously its a little harder without a mouse and Keyboard - especially whrn Sniping but i picked it up again quick enough and got to Pwning! long live the Barrett .50 Cal

and the 'train' for COD4 is well worth getting on

I couldn't get on with sniping on CoD4. The game pace is too quick and you usually find your spawn points rotate around the map, so you can't just camp one spot and pick people off. Bloc kind of works, but unless you have a partner to watch your back, you'll end up getting stabbed in the back (by people like me ). It's even worse on normal TDM, as you can't silence the sniper rifles, so appear as a big red dot whenever you fire!
