    God of War III

More and more information coming out on this now.

If you loved the previous two games in the series as much as i did im certain we wont be let down....

    Details:

    * The franchise will continue beyond God of War 3, but the trilogy will have some kind of resolution.
    * Kratos is four times as detailed in the sequel; 20,000 polygons over God of War 2's 5,000-poly version.
    * Players begin the game with many abilities from previous God of War games unlocked.
    * New weapons will provide more contrast to the standard Blades of Chaos. The Cestus gauntlets, seen in the first trailer (below), were given as an example.
    * Up to 50 enemies on screen--an increase over God of War 2's 12-15 limit.
    * Enemies will now coordinate attacks, arrange themselves in formations, and jump on Kratos to weigh him down.
    * Titans--the massive god-like creatures from previous games--are now dynamic, "living, breathing characters," rather than background setpieces.
    * Since the gods are angry with Kratos, he now draws his magic powers from a supernatural source. Ooh.
    * Kratos can now control some monsters, such as the Cyclops, in vehicle-like fashion.
    * Future DLC packs are seen as a possibility.

    Re: God of War III

If I had money to spend, I would definitely buy a PS3 for this game. I really enjoyed God of War 1 and 2. But I never finished the second one because I got stuck on a hard bit and I'm too stubborn to lower the difficulty. It was in the phoenix chamber or whatever it was called near the end.

Hopefully they've renewed the gameplay without changing it too much. The controls and camera angles of the first two worked well, but they would need to bring something new to the third game to make it seem worthwhile.

    Re: God of War III

I will definitely buy a PS3 just for this game. #1 and #2 were awesome games. If Sony are smart they have a special edition GOWIII PS3 pack, which I would happily buy.

    I can't wait!!

Many people will spend all what is needed to get a ps3 just to play the third installment of one of the greatest series so far on SONY gaming arena - God of War III

I can see that this is the game which will shoot the ps3 sales like crazy. Wait for March 2010. Sony is preparing to unleash the beast!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLcpWRTpu9s Glorious gameplay footage to wet your appetite (love the boss control at 2:45)

Also at the end some "zipper tech" carnage at the end....

“zipper technology,” which was trotted out during the gameplay demo when Kratos faced down a centaur. Being a large enemy, it can be finished off with one of Kratos’ quicktime-event finishers – which ends, shockingly, with Kratos slitting open its belly and letting its clearly identifiable guts spill out onto the marble floor.

    Re: God of War III

As a proud owner of all the Playstation consoles thru the years I am a bit embarressed to say I have never played any of the God of War games!
Should I pick up 1 & 2 before getting the PS3 game to catch up with the story or is that not really necessary?

I don't know why I never got round to getting them tbh it just didn't seem to jump out at me at the time. Now the hype is really getting me quite excited about this release so I have a urge to slay some mythological Greeks.

You are right to be embrassed. Frankly, it's shocking

I would say yes, it provides a background to why Kratos is doing what he is doing (if that makes sense). It'll also give you a chance to get familar with some basic (and some really awesome moves). Otherwise you may find your ass being handed to you by some low-level idiot baddie

I would second that you get GOW1+2 you can pick them up for next to nothing now on platinum etc. They are classics for the PS series. For what reviews are worth... GOW1 = 94% and GOW2=93% on metacritic.

lso playing gow1 and 2 on the PS3 you get to play them in upscaled greatness as well (depending on your PS3 model) i completed GOW1 couple weeks ago on PS3 and later this year going to run through 2 prior to the big release

Ahhhhh you lucky bastard. Well hopefully they will be re-releasing GOW I & II (for the PS3) with GOWIII Special Edition - well that's what I've read/heard anyway.
