Did anyone buy a PS3 slim today?

I picked one up for RRP with COD4 free. Pretty impressed to be honest.

Pretty jealous, I'm requiring a huge amount of willpower to resist impulse buying one. They are all over the newspapers. I need to wait until I know if I have a job until I do anything rash >>

Was in GAME this evening and saw one on display. Quite like the new design, but i have a perfectly good (and reliable

) 60Gb machine.

Yah I don't see any reason why someone would actively upgrade from an old PS3 to the slim, seems only like it should be attractive to people new to the PS3.

I was tempted. but I didn't.

Might get one tomorrow though, on the way to Spain. If I can get it for less in duty free? I'll take a look.

The 30% reduction in power and the fact its even quieter are the things tempting me.

Leaving it a few months to ensure there's no unwanted "features" in the new ones though!

Been planning to buy one as the same time as GOW3. But now with GOW 1 & 2 being re-released especially for the PS3 I might have to pick one up come Christmas time.

I am not a big Sony fan.

But Fallout 3 GOTY will be out on PS3 soon. Then you got Infamous. Oh, and the last Metal Gear solid I played was the first on PS1. I played the demo of the next MGS on a PS2 before trading it in for an XBox before MGS2 it was released.

I really find it temping to trade in my 360 for one though.

Maybe the new Final Fantasy will push me over the edge.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that a lot of people take Game up on their half price console offer and trade in their older 60GB PS3's with the chrome plated fronts that have full PS2 support. Would free up space if I got a PS3 that would play the PS2 games to

Must admit the God of War series has my attention for a PS3 as never picking it up for the PS2 for some reason, infamous is another one I have been looking at, after watching MGS4 on my brothers PS3 it seems there is about 3 hours of gameplay in it and the rest of it is cut scenes and more like a movie.

Casey, the new final fantasy is coming to the 360 also from memory so I am not sure why you would trade a 360 for a PS3 for a game on both consoles. Other than that the only reason I am looking at a PS3 is for the sony exclusives that don't come to the 360. Also looking at a Wii for the virtual console tbh for the old school NES and SNES games

To be honest I will be gaming on the 360 and using the PS3 as a Media Player / Blu-ray player.

Yeah that is the other thing that is swinging it for me, for a decent blu ray player its £200+ then I could get the PS3 for £250 that will do DVD, Blu Ray and also the odd game here and there.

I've no intention of trading in and losing the PS2 backwards compatibility I have, so I'll continue with the chubby PS3.
GT5 and a slim PS3 would be a big selling point and Sony need to claw back what the 360 and Wii have stolen off them. The PS3 seems to be getting an image of a BluRay player that plays games with the 360 for the hardened gamer and the Wii for getting 90 year olds playing tennis against toddlers.

Thats the only reason I bought one! If it came with a remote and not a controller I would have been more happy!

Not sure which airport you will be using, but I got my original release PS3 duty free from HMV in Gatwick, purchased on the way out and they arrange for it to be ready to collect on your return. Sure other airports will have such arrangements in place.

I will be getting a second PS3 for upstairs, will probably go for a slim (can still use old PS3 fo ps2 games etc)
