    Re: Reccomend me a projector

    TV is £1200 here:
    Samsung PS50P96FD Plasma 50"16:9 Hd Ready Freeview 1080p | EmpireDirect.co.uk Electrical Appliances
I hope you save more than £250 with your vouchers!

AV receivers have multiple inputs for switching component, svideo, composite and HDMI - you should be able to input scart, component, vga, hdmi directly into HD65 too... I don't think you will have a problem with video switching, you might have to buy a couple of new cables, or connect the sky directly to the projector, but thats not really a big problem imo

    Re: Reccomend me a projector

The problem is that I have no real money to spend on it and I have to buy it all with vouchers. I think considering the amount of use I might get out of a PJ compared to the massive telly the telly is probably the better option. I can pick up a nice 5.1 receiver when I have some real cash available at a later date. Thanks for all your help lads, I will get some pics up when its all sorted.

    Re: Reccomend me a projector

The problem with the cables is a simply tidyness issue, I already have some trunking stuffed full of speaker and RCA cable (for my decks which are the other side of the room). I think tonight I will up some pics of the room just to clear this all up.

    Re: Reccomend me a projector

Even if you get 90% of face value of £1500 of vouchers, that is still £1350!
Also remember that TV is double your original budget!

    Re: Reccomend me a projector

I highly doubt I would see 75% never mind 90%.

Besides I can still sell my 32" TV, my mate has offered me £200 for it but I reckon that its worth £300 given that it just had a brand new panel fitted and a 32" sammy (new one only has slightly better contrast) still costs £500.

    Re: Reccomend me a projector

Didn't you say you could use your vouchers in JL ? Can you use their price-match facility when buying with vouchers ? If so, shop around for the best high st price first, and save a few bob !

Even if you don't get a price match, that set is £1488 inc. delivery at Dixons, and £1499 at JL, which includes their great 5 year warranty, surely worth it for the £11 difference Or you could go for the package with that set and a DVD recorder for £50 more ?

Can't recommend JL highly enough (especially over DSG !)

Also, £200 isn't too bad an offer for your set, but I'd try for £250. £300 is maybe a bit steep, as you can get the new 32", with 3 yr warranty, for £399 if you know where to look (hope your mate doesn't read Hexus !)

Really wish i has seen that before ordering £1500 in DSG vouchers!

My mate does not read hexus, but taking that in to account I might drop to £250. £200 seems pretty low to me tho.

    Re: Reccomend me a projector

I'm pretty sure Dixons online have a price match section, so maybe worth having a look at that and pushing for a 5yr warranty on a like-for-like basis against JL ?

*edit* just had a wee looky Dixons Price Promise

Looks like they'll price match other internet sites, so you may have some vouchers left over !

    Re: Reccomend me a projector

Rather than price matching to JL, you can price match to empire direct and save £300
but you won't get the extra warranty, but those things usually have negative expected value (especially when it costs £300 more!)

    anyway well spotted bigblue!

    Yeah, good luck !

I'd made the post about JL thinking that it was maybe it would help since you already ordered vouchers, but after I saw it was web-wide, well, the world's yer lobster !

AVForums, once again, may help with price matching !
