No sound from pc to tv

I was wanting to connect my pc temporarily to my basic tv, using S-video [now sorted]

    ________

Ok, I've self-helped myself with my original query - can anyone kindly troubleshoot my remaining issue, of no sound outputting from pc through phono to RCA connection at tv.

Not really a problem as I'm happy to use headphones, I'd just like to know for knowledge's own sake, Google hasn't really helped.

    phono to rca?

do you mean 3.5mm to 2 phono rca? or does the pc output through 2 phono rca jacks too (so cable is 2 phono to 2 phono)?

If it does output through 2 phono rca have you tested these on another device eg a hifi?

Also I know it sounds silly but have you checked that the phono connections on the TV are inputs and are linked to the s-video input?

Re: No sound from pc to tv

Yes, I mean 3.5 jack to 2 RCA. Tv does not have many inputs (cheapo portable) so I'm using a scart adapter switched to input - which is coping fine with the S-video, hence the picture but no sound situation.

    Thanks

Re: No sound from pc to tv

    It could be either,

    a) You are connecting the 3.5mm end to the green/black headphones/speaker jack, rather then the blue line out

    b) Line out needs to be set in the drivers (many AC97 devices can re-configure the ports for different uses)

I doubt its the SCART adapter as they are extremely basic things, also, because your getting video through it, I doubt it's a setting on the TV.

For me, blue is line in.

Choice of ports is just the basic 3 line out: 1 green 1 black & 1 orange (c/sub); pink: microphone, blue: line in. So yes I was using green/line-out.

Re: No sound from pc to tv

Sorted - it was simply that monitor 2 (the tv) was set at not active, when I checked desktop/display properties/settings. As the picture was ok, and I'd done all the setting-up of multiple display &c through nvidia control panel, omitted to check that properly.

    Thanks anyway for the input.
