Can't say I'm surprised really. Provided CPU performance is good enough, Llano might make for a decent low-end gaming system by itself.

really hoping that the performance for the 4 or 6 is at least 2500k - 2600k. The 8 core should be more than that. :/

Speaking of the core count, I can already see the flame wars based on it. At the end of the day though it will come down to performance/price, not that that matters to fanboys of course...

you are 100% correct. In addition, all of the people arguing that core counts don't matter will be doing it from quad core systems. People should pick the best product to meet their needs and buy it. And they should refrain from telling the rest of the world that they are wrong just because someone else's needs don't match their needs. There is no single right answer.

Whilst i agree, and often spec the more value oriented AMD systems for my friends and family based on that fact, i hope this isnt a suggestion that the same kind of ethos should be applied to Bulldozer

I was thinking more the core/module/thread confusion/ignorance, for example I can see biased reviewers like BitTech saying something along the lines of how AMD needs more cores than Intel.

As it currently stands, AMD generally does need more cores than Intel for the same performance.
I have everything crossed that with Bulldozer the situation either reverses or is at least nearly on a par in terms of performance per core.
However, if AMD are to be believed, current CPU's have enough performance anyway and using the stream processors is the way to go for everything else. I agree with them to a point. I just wish more software was written to use them. Come on AMD! lets see some more activity there!

I still didn't word it great there really, I just mean I can see it being marked down based on core count and such, I mean BitTech gave a negative review of the E-350 because a Pentium could be under-volted/clocked to the same power draw (I'd like to see them actually try rather than post made up crap as usual)!

That is only a statement that too many people look at the wrong metrics when trying to determine what a better processor is.

There are 2 philosophies, fewer big cores with high clocks or larger number of smaller cores. Each has its good points and its bad points. But these are philosophies and what works for one might not work for another, but too many people believe "because it is best for me I must insist it is better for everyone." That is not the case.

Haven't decided yet which to get. Anyone got any links for pricing? all i have is the system ones, but i don't know how reliable they are. Looking for cpu pricing not full system.

I don't think there is any official pricing yet. The thank button is at the bottom right of every post but I think you need a certain number of posts before it shows up.

It looks like the next revision of Zacate will have both CPU and GPU TurboCore:
