    Re: AMD - Bulldozer Chitchat

Really not necessary, for graphics cards at least. Even the fastest cards available are barely affected by running on x8 instead of x16 gen 2. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/pcie-g...iew-31964.html

I am running my HD5850 on a 975X motherboard which uses a first generation PCI-E slot running at 8X.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: AMD - Bulldozer Chitchat

sounds interesting, cant wait for the gpu's to finally be released however bulldozer is more important for me right now . if they release southern island before November ill be happy as i can upgrade for battlefield 3 and not be stuck with a budget card (gtx 460..) woo!

    Re: AMD - Bulldozer Chitchat

My HD5850 1GB should be fine for the time being especially since I won't be buying BF3!!

I am more interested in my newer SFF system. Hopefully, the HD7670 will be a short card with a single slot cooler like my HD5670. Hopefully it will be around HD6770 or HD6790 level performance.

But this isn't much to do with Bulldozer

Looks like either a 7950 or a 7870 for me. Depending on price. I'm not that willing to pay over £200 for a graphics card.

Nordic aren't the source and thanks to the stupid US dating system I can't tell if that article was released yesterday or a few months back.
Edit: But going by http://wccftech.com/amds-generation-...-specs-leaked/ it looks like something is wrong - look at the specs measured in SIMD units for 7800 and GDDR5 instead of XDR2. Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

    Re: AMD - Bulldozer Chitchat

I told my friend (who is a biig Apple fan. He has a £2.5k, i7 MacBook pro. Oh yeah, he's 15) that I was looking at getting Bulldozer and Radeon 7000, depending on the benchmarks. He instantly rebutts that AMD are rubbish compared to Intel and NVIDIA. I said "But it's a completely new archetecture!" and he said that that's what they always say.

There is no point to that story, it just made me angry and I felt to share it
