This is an interesting spot about the new AMD embedded CPUs:
http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/23/a...mbedded-chips/
Pricing seems competitive too:

Just been looking for a new AM3 cpu to update an old DDR2 machine.
Scan have no Phenom II chips. Ebuyer have the x4 965BE, but only have 17 of them.
Looks like supplies of the old stuff has just about dried up.
FM2 business class processors?

Can't imagine what the difference is to the usual desktop variety. Platform longevity perhaps? Not unlocked?
Usually it is just longer support, isn't it?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Didn't they do something similar with the Athlon 64 X2?
i cant wait to upgrade my old rig
Athlon 64 X2 dual core 2.6ghz
with 3.5gb ddr2 ram
im gonna be getting the piledriver 8 core 4ghz to replace it with 8gb ram ddr3 its gonna be sweet
Yes, they did - and some of the Phenom/Athlon II/Phenom II line too. It's enhanced support and availability AFAIK - something like a guarantee that the processors will be available for 5 years?
Hmmm...source: http://hexus.net/business/items/comp...ss-processors/The "B" designation on these processors conveys the 24-month AMD lifecycle commitment that is integral to AMD Business Class.
WHY: AMD is delivering these new processors so that OEMs and system builders can better provide solid, reliable platform components that achieve exceptional performance and power savings, industry-leading longevity and stability, while supporting the essential security and manageability business users require.
Not sure that clarifies matter much though
GE is using AMD CPUs in industrial computing modules:

Its always nice to find some one not saying AMD is dead:http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013...to-get-better/ near the bottom of the artical.
And:http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/other/d..._November.html
Hope you've not all read them yet.
Oh and on a side note the folding team seems rather lacking I am 167th already.
There seems to be only 8 active folders!
How about a recruitment drive?

Well I only run it when my pc is on.
I'm not to much into the whole Competition thing.
More the fact that my input might help someone one day.
It looks like the PS4 SOC is more complex than originally thought:
http://techreport.com/news/24725/ps4...-amd-processor
BTW,the GPU might be GCN2.0!
It looks like Haswell will be around for desktop for a while:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/dis...s_Roadmap.html
It also seems like the 14NM process won`t make it to desktops until 2015.

That's no more complex than originally thought really. They're pretty much all things AMD have been mentioning as part of their wider HSA implementations for a while.
