no its not explained well at all and puts an HUGE skew on the graphs. the IB part isn't in the same market so its pointless to include it.

HD4000 minimum? AMD have been producing better than HD4000 for many years now - why cant anand just accept AMD are better with APU`s - but since they and XS have intel employee`s on the staff , they cant.

    Re: AMD - Piledriver chitchat

The Core i5 tested turbos uptp 2.6GHZ and AFAIK the A4-5000M has a maximum clockspeed of around 2.6GHZ it seems. The A4 5000M is also an SOC unlike the Core i5 tested,so probably has a lower effective TDP anyway.

    Some more benchmarks:

    http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/p...abini-im-test/

The SB based Pentium 847 is also used.

    Edit!!

    Another one:

    http://hothardware.com/Reviews/AMD-2...e-APUs/?page=1

So,the multithreaded IPC of Jaguar is similar to a dual core SB Core i3 with HT. SB has 50% greater ST IPC though.

That doesn't change the fact they consider the HD4000 about the minimum. If AMD produce something faster than that then that's cool, but less use in a benchmark.

which says it all about anandtech - they didn't bother with AMD parts - like hexus doesn't , until intel finally caught up with older bits then suddenly it all became relevant

Isn't the i5 chip what's being used in the surface pro?

The XBox One uses a quad channel memory controller supposedly:

It looks like the Jaguar SOCs will be much cheaper than what Intel will offer:

    http://seekingalpha.com/article/1459...ce=google_news

    Edit!!

It seems these leaks about the PS4 were mostly correct:

    http://www.vgleaks.com/world-exclusi...is-unveiled-2/

Interestingly it mentions the 18 CUs being arranged in a 14+4 configuration. I wonder if that means, part of the GPU has been allocated for compute based operations,ie,like physics of some sort??

Interesting. I just hope they don't get lumped on purely budget machines and HP/Lenovo/Acer/Asus try and put it into something reasonably desirable with a decent resolution screen.

    Doesn't that article have a 28 Jan 2013 dateline?

But anyway, I wondered about the 14+4 and that would only make sense if the +4 were on the Jaguar part of the die. And a few hours later comes this new AT article:

    http://www.anandtech.com/print/6981/...its-latest-apu

There’s about a 20% gap in raw shader performance between the 2-CU GCN implementation in Kabini and the 6 EU Gen7 graphics core in the Pentium 2020M, which maps almost perfectly to the performance delta we see in T-Rex HD. Now we see where the Pentium/Core i3 comparison comes from.
So two Jaguars would be 4 CU. Guess that would make it a 14+2+2 config. And runnig physics on there would make a lot of sense.

apparently though they can reconfigure the compute units if needed - in a gfx light and heavy compute `game` , it can go 8+10

It appears Jaguar has 70% to 90% of the IPC of Llano:

    http://codedivine.org/2013/05/25/amd...t-same-clocks/

    Edit!!

Looking at the TR article about Kabini,it seem SA was right about Jaguar being made so it was easier to make on difference processes. It seems the Jaguar SOCs for the PS4 and XBox One are made at both GF and TSMC.
